Becky Lynch became known as The Man after she began showing a more aggressive side to her character in 2018. WWE used her marketable nickname on various items of merchandise, including her best-selling shirts and the WWE 2K20 video game cover.

In 2020, the company marked Lynch’s pregnancy by also releasing merchandise that contained the phrase “The Mom” instead of “The Man.”

Lynch told Brie Bella and Nikki Bella on The Bellas Podcast that she instantly knew WWE would refer to her by that term.

“I really didn’t want to be marketed as ‘The Mom.’ That’s one thing I told Colby [Seth Rollins], I was like, ‘Man, they’re going to make me ‘The Mom,’ I know it, I know it.’ He was like, ‘No, they’re not.’ As soon as I said it, a frigging t-shirt came out,” Lynch said. [H/T WrestleTalk]

A year before Becky Lynch’s pregnancy, WWE released Man-related merchandise for her husband, Seth Rollins. Fans of the former Shield member could buy shirts containing the phrase “The Man’s Man.” The married couple also appeared in WWE storylines together around that time.
