Seth Rollins challenged Kevin Owens for the Universal Championship on the November 21, 2016 episode of WWE RAW. As Rollins attempted to perform a move off the barricade, he was prevented from doing so by someone in a Sin Cara mask.

That someone turned out to be Chris Jericho (01:37 in the video above), who allegedly had real-life heat with Sin Cara earlier that month.

It was reported by the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer that the two men had an altercation during WWE’s UK tour. Sin Cara apparently refused to stop making annoying noises on a WWE bus and he told Jericho to “f*** off”.

More words were reportedly exchanged, leading Sin Cara to “throw a wild right” in Jericho’s direction. The nine-time WWE Intercontinental Champion then bit Sin Cara’s finger before the masked Superstar was thrown off the bus.

Sin Cara played down the incident in an interview with Sports Illustrated in 2017. He even revealed that he is friends with Jericho in real life, hence why he let him wear the mask.

“Me and Jericho are good friends. He actually asked me if he could borrow one of my masks for that segment, and I said that it would be an honor. There is no heat between him and I. Nowadays, with social media, there are always a lot of rumors, but we are fine. That’s why I let him borrow my mask. If that wasn’t the case, I would have said no.”

Jericho also had a backstage altercation with Brock Lesnar in 2016, while Sin Cara was involved in a spat with Simon Gotch earlier that year.
