5 WWE Superstars and the English Premier League club they support

Remember when the Bar wore Liverpool kits in Manchester?
Remember when the Bar wore Liverpool kits in Manchester?

We have seen WWE Superstars be pretty vocal on social media regarding various sports, particularly the NFL. There are some passionate sports fans currently on the roster, although they are limited mainly to American games.

Not a lot of WWE Superstars follow football, most who do are European. There are quite a few English Premier League fans on the roster, with some of them being more vocal about football on Twitter than others.

They have been longtime fans of their respective clubs. With that being said, there are still some American stars who have a favorite English Premier League club as well.

We have seen some crossover appeal between the Premier League and WWE recently, as Triple H's theme song played around the Emirates Stadium as the Arsenal players walked out onto the pitch for the second half of their 2-1 win against English Premier League champions, Liverpool.

However, the Game is not a Gooner. Who does he support? Let's find out. Here are five WWE Superstars and the English Premier League club they support.

#5 Killian Dain (Manchester United)

Possibly the most vocal football fan in WWE, Killian Dain shows immense passion for the game and, in particular, Manchester United. The current NXT Superstar is a big fan of the Red Devils and even co-hosts a podcast about them, called Wrestling With Relegation.

Man United are currently looking to get into the top four of the English Premier League, while suffering their fair share of disappointing defeats along the way. Those defeats have often frustrated Dain, who regularly tweets about his boyhood club whenever they play.

The Northern Irishman is very much a loyal supporter who wants the best for his club, but he apparently did not pass the message to his wife, Nikki Cross. The former Women's Tag Team Champion actively voiced her support for United's bitter rivals, Liverpool, when asked to predict the 2019 UEFA Champions League Final between them and Tottenham Hotspur.

Anyway, there is no doubting the passion Killian Dain has for Manchester United.

#4 Finn Balor (Tottenham Hotspur)

Another loyal supporter of an English Premier League club from WWE, Finn Balor has been a fan of Tottenham Hotspur since the days of Paul Gascoigne and Gary Lineker. He has visited both White Hart Lane and the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as a part of WWE.

The first-ever WWE Universal Champion has shown his support for the North London club on Twitter quite a few times, particularly during their incredible run to the 2019 UEFA Champions League Final. Balor attended the game in Madrid, a 2-0 defeat to Liverpool.

Before the game, the Irishman publically revealed his relationship with FOX Sports reporter, Veronica Rodriguez, who is an Arsenal fan. The two got married in August after Balor took a couple of months off from WWE. While he is a lifelong Tottenham fan, a WWE legend has also been linked with Spurs.

Many years after that famous picture of him posing with his own Tottenham kit in 2008, John Cena revealed his allegiance to last season's UEFA Champions League finalists. He said that despite not seeing them play in English Premier League, he was "taken aback by the passion of the sport".

#3 Sheamus (Liverpool)

Finn Balor was not the only Irish WWE Superstar who went to Madrid to support his club in last year's UEFA Champions League Final. Sheamus was also at the Wanda Metropolitano, along with Cesaro, as Liverpool defeated Tottenham to win their sixth European Cup.

The Celtic Warrior is an avid supporter of the Reds since his childhood, a time when they were winning trophies left, right and center. Those glory days seem to have returned to Anfield, with Liverpool becoming English Premier League champions for the first time this year. Sheamus' love for the Reds even made its way onto WWE programming.

On a November 2017 episode of RAW in Manchester, Sheamus and Cesaro entered their RAW Tag Team Championship match with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, in full Liverpool kits.

It was a great heel move and what was even greater was the fact that The Bar won the title that night. Not the first time, nor the last time, that Liverpool got the upper hand much to the dismay of fans from Manchester.

Anyway, Zack Gibson of the Grizzled Young Veterans is also a massive Red currently in WWE. He is a Scouser, born and bred. The two of them will be enjoying Liverpool's current success, as they are set to lift the English Premier League trophy in front of the Kop tomorrow. The only thing left is a custom WWE Championship belt, as the company does for any sports team that becomes champions.

#2 Daniel Bryan (Everton)

One of WWE's most loveable underdogs, Daniel Bryan has chosen to support a club that isn't nearly the biggest. Everton has not won a trophy for 25 years but still retains its status as one of the more known clubs in the English Premier League, thanks to its rich history and heated local rivalry with Liverpool. Perhaps, that's why Sheamus defeated him in 18 seconds at WrestleMania 28.

Bryan started supporting the Toffees because of NXT coach, Robbie Brookside's loyalty to them. He spent quite a long time in the UK during the early-to-mid 2000s, with some of the passion for football rubbing off on him. The 5-time WWE World Champion was particularly impressed by a chant about Wayne Rooney when he left Everton to join Manchester United in 2004.

The Merseyside club did gain another WWE Superstar's support as well, in the form of Fandango. The current NXT had a small Twitter feud with Everton regarding his ultra-catchy theme song back in 2013, before settling his differences with them and visiting Goodison Park a year later.

Aside from Bryan and Fandango, Drake Maverick also supports Everton. And unlike his fellow Blues in WWE, the former 205 Live General Manager has been a long-time supporter of the Toffees. However, it is fair to say that Daniel Bryan is the most notable Everton fan on the WWE roster.

#1 Triple H (West Ham United)

Despite "The Game" ringing around Arsenal's ground last week, Triple H is actually a fan of another London club in the English Premier League. West Ham United may seem an odd choice of club for the 14-time WWE World Champion to support, but the clue is in the name.

West Ham are also known as the Hammers, providing the link between them and Triple H, whose signature weapon is the sledgehammer. The Game said that West Ham are "the closest to what we (WWE) do, with the passion of their fanbase and loyalty".

Triple H backed Andy Carroll to become a WWE Superstar and, a year later, had a few words to say to the outgoing Dimitri Payet. However, other WWE stars have also declared their support for West Ham United. Both of them were students of the 'Game' himself.

Batista started supporting West Ham, after filming at their old stadium, Upton Park, for his movie 'Final Score'. Also, Seth Rollins became a fan through FIFA 18. He found a winning formula with the Irons on the game, with Manuel Lanzini and Chicharito as his favorite players.

So, despite the varied ways in which each Superstar started supporting them, West Ham United has quite the list of stars who are fans. Rollins and Triple H will definitely have been thrilled to see the Hammers avoid relegation from the English Premier League this season.
