5 WWE Superstars Most Affected by Roman Reigns’ Suspension

Roman Reigns has been suspended for 30 days

We all know Vince McMahon likes a bit of controversy. And the news that WWE knew about Roman Reign’s violation of the company’s Wellness Policy a few days prior to the Money in the Bank pay-per-view created just that.

While WWE Battleground is still being promoted as a Triple-Threat match with Reigns in the main event with Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose for the WWE World Title, I cannot see how this will work and the fans remain happy with the results.

Reigns is caught in no man’s land, and the company has itself to blame for not acting sooner than it did.

This suspension, which is still being discussed a week later, has so many ramifications. The three-time world champion is not the only one who was affected by the events of the past week and the news that he will be out of action for 30 days.

These other superstars could also be affected by the sudden turn of events.

#5 Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens could have won the MITB briefcase and gone after Roman Reigns

The prohibited favorite to win the Money in the Bank Ladder match is still a man without a briefcase and mired in the mid-card. How does the company’s best chance at a mega heel get out of the purgatory he is in?

The thought of Owens facing Reigns for the strap, or him cashing in on some would-be champion over the course of two or three months was intriguing. Now, Owens will battle Sami Zayn once more or move on to a series of matches with Alberto Del Rio, which are entertaining, but are not the best way to book him.

Owens was the biggest loser at Money in the Bank and the biggest loser after the pay-per-view too.

#4 Seth Rollins

A potentially rollicking feud with Reigns was cut short because of the suspension

All of this is corrected if Rollins wins back the title either at Battleground or at SummerSlam. It would appear the time off from knee surgery has not affected him in the slightest and he is still the best villain on the company roster.

Rollins needs to continue to chase Ambrose and keep this feud fresh until the company decides what to do with Reigns. Also, another title run helps solidify Rollins as the bad man fans love to hate.

Ultimately, that hatred turns to fandom as he should become a babyface by the end of the year. Rollins is a tweener who can draw heat no matter what role he is in. Conversely, he could definitely cut it as a babyface as well.

#3 John Cena

Cena’s 16th title reign may be delayed by Roman’s absence

In an odd way, the news of Reigns’ mistake will affect Cena in the future.

When does the 15-time world champion get a shot at No. 16 and the immortal record held by Ric Flair? When does WWE take a chance and forget the idea of moving forward to give The Champ potentially his last shot at glory?

It was always believed that at some point, Cena would face Reigns in a changing of the guard type match where the future babyface would be forever immortalized, similar to The Rock and Cena.

Cena will patiently bide his time, but at some point, he should get his due and have one more title run.

#2 Dean Ambrose

Dean Ambrose may be the WWE Champion, but he can’t legitimise himself till he beats Reigns

If the decision for Ambrose to cash in his Money in the Bank contract on the same night he won was a last minute decision, then it is all the better for the former Shield member.

Dean Ambrose is extremely over with the fans, and hopefully, a title run will help establish him as a wrestler and not just another gimmick with a belt in this company.

If WWE is serious about Ambrose as a champion – and they should be – then he needs a solid run at least until SummerSlam. If he drops the title at Battleground, then this was nothing more than the third wheel keeping the title warm while Reigns gets the slap on the hand.

#1 Vince McMahon

Now that his golden boy has fallen short of expectations, Vince McMahon has a quandry on his hands

Holy smokes. As if things weren’t uneven enough for the McMahon family prior to MITB, Reigns’ suspension would have ratcheted up the unrest by a few notches.

Reigns’ was one of the company’s most loyal workers and has only improved month after month.

The issues with him getting over with the fans were issues that the fans had with him as their champion, as opposed to his persona. Now, while the suspension gives McMahon a bit of pause, it will not make everything go away.

What happens when the suspension is lifted? Do things resume like they were? What changes will be made to ensure the Roman Empire finally gets over with the fans? These are huge decisions to make, and they all rest on the broad shoulders of Vincent Kennedy McMahon.
