Bray Wyatt made his way to WWE's main roster on the road to SummerSlam 2013, with Luke Harper and Erick Rowan by his side. He defeated Kane in his first match at SummerSlam. Wyatt won the WWE title on the road to WrestleMania 33 but lost it to Randy Orton at The Show of Shows.

During Orton's stint with The Wyatt Family, he and Bray Wyatt won the Tag Team titles at TLC 2016, with help from Luke Harper. Mere days later, it was announced that Harper had been sanctioned as the Tag Team Champion as well. This made him eligible to compete in Tag Team title matches and defend the belt under "Freebird Rules".

Orton and Harper later lost the belts to American Alpha in a Fatal Four-Way Elimination match on an episode of WWE SmackDown. While both Orton and Wyatt are currently two of the top Superstars on the WWE roster, Harper is competing in AEW and has donned the moniker of Brodie Lee. He made his debut back in March, and was revealed as the leader of The Dark Order.
