Nakamura is one of the men the WWE Universe want to win The Royal Rumble

The 2018 Royal Rumble match is completely unpredictable, but many of the WWE Universe have named Shinsuke Nakamura as their favourite to win the match and go on to face AJ Styles at WrestleMania 34.

Whilst this seems like a fantastic route for WWE to take, it seems that even Nakamura has a poor record of losses on pay-per-view building up to this weekend's match. The former NXT Champion has won just two matches at Backlash and Battleground since he was promoted to the main roster last year and has since been on a lengthy losing streak.

Nakamura lost to Jinder Mahal at both SummerSlam and Hell in a Cell when he was in the hunt for the WWE Championship, before he was the first match eliminated from the traditional match at Survivor Series and teamed up with Randy Orton in a losing effort at Clash of Champions. Could it finally be time for a change of direction for Nakamura?
