I recently did an article called 5 WWE superstars who couldn't live up to the hype and I figured it was only fair to do another one consisting of those young WWE superstars who did indeed fulfil their enormous potential. After all, we're here to look at the positives as well as the negatives.

There have been a lot of young men and women who have been built up as the greatest thing since the dawn of time and the ones on this list have risen to the challenge of becoming household names. Today, we pay homage to these WWE superstars.

So, without any further ado, here is our list of 5 WWE superstars who did live up to the hype:

#5) Braun Strowman

A monstrous success

We start off our list with the man who has had one of the best 2017s of any wrestler on the WWE roster: Braun Strowman. After all, The Monster Among Men has quickly become the biggest threat on Monday Night Raw next to Brock Lesnar.

The former professional strongman first endured a difficult start to life in the WWE as a member of the Wyatt Family before departing the group to pursue a singles career. And, what a great decision that turned out to be.

He has vastly improved his in-ring work and mic skills and this combined with his ginormous size means he is primed to be a top guy in the years to come.

#4) Charlotte Flair

Charlotte Flair never really wanted to enter the professional wrestling business despite being the daughter of the legendary Nature Boy Ric Flair. But, enter the business she did a few years ago and expectations were naturally high.

But, she far surpassed those lofty expectations - first in NXT but then, more impressively on the main roster. Charlotte has dominated proceedings in the women's division and is expected to be the driving force for a long time yet.

#3) The Shield

When people start branding your faction as one of the greatest in the history of the WWE, you know that expectations are going to be really really high. This was especially true when Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, and Dean Ambrose split up to embark on their respective singles runs.

And, all three of them have stepped up the mark. They have all been WWE World Champions and are widely regarded as the three biggest names in the company. In terms of exceeding expectations, The Shield is right up there with the best.

#2) Randy Orton

When you're a third generation WWE superstar from one of the most well-respected wrestling families in the business, you know expectations are going to be high. When you join up with Evolution and become the youngest World Champion in history, those expectations go up a hundredfold.

And, despite a wobbly start to life a singles competitor, Orton has become one of the most recognisable faces in the industry and is a 13-time World Champion to boot. Well done, Mr Viper.

#1) Brock Lesnar

Lesnar did things his own way

When your moniker is The Next Big Thing, you know that you are very much expected to be the main man in the WWE in the years to come. Brock Lesnar fulfilled all those expectations - but he did it his way.

He left the WWE when he wanted to try American Football, went to NJPW by breaking his noncompete clause in the company and finally became a Heavyweight World Champion in the UFC before finally returning to Vince McMahon's promotion as the highest paid part-timer in the history of the business.

He might not have enjoyed success the old-fashioned way, but there is little doubt that The Beast Incarnate lived up to the hype.
