In the history of the WWE, there has been no shortage of superheroes. From the all-American beliefs of the 'Immortal' Hulk Hogan to the 'rise above hate' attitude of John Cena, there have been hundreds of Superstars who the WWE Universe has been able to rally behind on-screen.

But off-screen, there have been heroes in WWE in the unlikeliest of places. Some stars haven't just been a role model on WWE programming, but have even shown their own heroics off-screen, with very little fanfare.

A select few Superstars have even saved another person's life, often risking their own in the process. Whether it be helping a close friend or a perfect stranger, these Superstars personified being a hero. Here are five WWE Superstars who risked their own safety, to save the lives of someone else.

#5 Mr. Perfect

Perfect's actions.

A former Intercontinental Champion, Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig is regarded by many as one of the greatest of all time to never hold the WWF Title. And though Hennig was never WWF Champion, his actions outside the ring definitely earned him the title of hero.

Being inducted posthumously into the WWE Hall of Fame by Baseball legend Wade Boggs, the Boston Red Sox star later told fans about when the pair went hunting. Speaking on a DVD, Boggs said how he had been caught up in barbed wire and would've easily bled to death if not for Perfect.

Uncoiling the wire, Hennig would carry Boggs to the nearest hospital, saving his life in a true act of heroism from the Perfect one, who sadly passed in February 2003, of a drug overdose.

#4 Bam Bam Bigelow

With his iconic flames tattoo adorning his dome, Bam Bam Bigelow was known for being a tough guy. Best known for his time in ECW and the WWF, Bigelow's incredible moveset for a man his size impressed everyone, including his moonsault.

But after leaving the company, Bigelow would become a real-life hero in 2000, saving the lives of three children. After seeing them playing with firecrackers, Bigelow sprang into action when an enormous fire engulfed the area, saving the kids.

Unfortunately for Bam Bam, his body would be hurt badly, as 40% of his skin was left with second-degree burns. These burns forced the legendary Superstar to retire from wrestling, as he spent months in the hospital recovering from the burns, but said it was worth it to save the life of the three children.

#3 Chris Masters

He never held gold in the WWE, but Chris Masters certainly impressed fans with his incredible physique. A member of the WWE until 2011, it was his actions outside the ring two years later that garnered the Masterpiece some headlines.

When his mother was taken hostage, Masters raced to the scene, but when he arrived, found the house engulfed in flames. Fearing for his mother's life, Masters tried to enter the house but was unable by himself, though that didn't stop him.

Using seemingly superhuman strength, Masters uprooted a tree, and threw it at the house, creating an opening and allowing him to save his mother.

An act of true heroism, Masters wouldn't stop there, as he also located the neighbor who had taken his mother hostage and had made sure they got what they deserved.

#2 CM Punk

Punk came to the aid of his friend Joey Mercury when he needed it most.

The WWE Universe are divided in their opinions of CM Punk, and though some regard him as one of the all-time greats, many see him as a quitter. What fans can't deny, is the good Punk did outside of the ring, as the real-life Straight Edge Superstar helped others who were battling substance abuse problems.

One notable example of this is Joey Mercury, who had battled abuse issues and risked losing everything, until Punk loaned him an undisclosed amount of money, to help him get his life back on track.

It clearly worked, as Mercury would join Punk on-screen in 2010, and would later be part of J&J Security with Jamie Noble a few years later. Though neither Punk or Mercury work for WWE anymore, the connection the two men share is truly amazing.

#1 Bray Wyatt

Bray Wyatt may be known as the Eater of Worlds, but even this dark, demented Superstar is willing to risk everything to save someone else. Travelling one night with JTG, Alex Riley and Big E, Wyatt was called into action when a car ahead of them crashed, doing six barrel rolls in the air.

Writing in his autobiography, the Cryme Tyme star said how he was ready to leave the car, which could've exploded at any minute, though Wyatt was quick to assist.

Pulling a teenaged girl from the wreckage, the future WWE Champion struggled with the other passenger, leaving JTG no choice but to help.

After speaking with the couple to make sure they were okay, Wyatt called 911, before leaving the scene to avoid any unwanted attention by the authorities.
