We all need to find a way to make ends meet, and for the men and women of the WWE, this is no different.

While each superstar will have entered the company dreaming of headlining WrestleMania, the truth is that prior to joining, many would need a job to help pay the bills.

Whether that be washing dishes, serving customers at the checkout, or picking up garbage, every superstar has had to find a way to make some cash before even thinking of stepping inside the squared circle.

With that said, some Superstars have had some truly incredible, and downright shocking jobs, that helped them pay their way through wrestling school, eventually allowing them to sign with WWE, and entertain millions of fans every single week.

Here are five WWE Superstars and the shocking jobs they have had, either before, during or after their wrestling careers.

#5 Kane: Insurer

When Glenn Jacobs announced that he was running for political office, people were quick to judge the former WWE Champion. It’s not that Kane is dumb, but it’s just that the idea of an evil, charbroiled demon running for the role of Knox County Mayor was a very amusing idea.

Perhaps if Jacobs had been known for any other career other than being one of WWE's longest tenuring Superstars, people wouldn’t have batted an eye at his political ambition.

But when he’s not focused on destroying his opponents or tombstoning priests (remember that?!), Jacobs and his wife, Crystal, run their own insurance agency in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Working as Jacobs' Insurance Associates, the company offers quotes for both homes and automobiles, though be suspicious if the big Red Machine ever offers you a policy for fire damage.

#4 The Undertaker: Real Estate Investor

As one of the most iconic stars in wrestling, The Undertaker has entertained fans for decades, whether that be in the WWE which he joined in 1990, his brief time in WCW, or even earlier.

But when not diggin' holes and takin' souls, the Deadman enjoys investing in Real Estate, which has made him a tidy profit.

Partnering with a close friend, Scott Everhart, the two have helped fund major projects, including a US$2.7 million upscale of an office building dubbed 'The Calahart', a portmanteau of both men's last names.

Being a legendary Superstar, the Phenom probably doesn't need the money made from these investments, making this more of a passion project.

With his and Everhart's business acumen, the pair are definitely helping home-buyers to Rest... In... Peace.

#3 Dolph Ziggler: Stand Up Comedian

When you think of WWE Superstars who were able to get genuine laughs from the crowd, you might think of stars like The Rock, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Bobby Heenan, or Santino Marella.

One name you probably won’t think of is 'the Show Off' Dolph Ziggler, whose confident and cocksure attitude has led to many victories in the company, including two World Championship reigns.

But Ziggler is a known fan of comedy and has gained notoriety as a stand-up comic, performing sets at clubs like Caroline’s in New York and Pack Theater in LA.

Never one to shy away from the camera, Dolph has also appeared on Comedy Central’s Roast Battle, and for a brief time, dated comedic actress, Amy Schumer.

Not bad for a guy who used to be a male cheerleader.

#2 CM Punk: Comic Book Writer

There’s an old saying: If you do what you love, you’ll never have to work a day in your life. This is especially true for the life of CM Punk. Growing up loving wrestling, the young Phil Brooks became a wrestler and transitioned to the Octagon upon leaving the WWE, having his debut fight in September 2016.

An avid comic book fan, it was only a matter of time before the Best in the World ended up writing for Marvel Comics in 2015.

Amongst his works include the February 2015 Thor Annual #1, the Drax the Destroyer series from that same year, and he turned his attention from Superheroes to horror when he wrote ‘the Most Cursed’ for Vertigo Comic’s Strange Sports Stories #3, released May that same year.

After two years away, Punk returned to the comic book scene with the one-shot Master of Kung-Fu, with Punk aiming to be the best comic creator in the world.

#1 Asuka: Video Game Journalist

Since joining the WWE in 2015, Asuka has impressed countless fans with her hard-hitting style and unique offense.

But before she joined NXT, the Empress of Tomorrow had proven herself in her native Japan, both in and out of the ring.

Early in her wrestling career, the future SmackDown Women's Champion wrote for XBOX Magazine Japan and also did graphic design work for the Nintendo DS console.

Her work writing for XBOX Magazine even allowed her to be sponsored by Microsoft and she was able to wear official logos as part of her ring gear.

In case that wasn't enough, Asuka founded and still owns a hair salon in Yokohama, Japan.

Called 'Another Heaven', the salon is very popular and has even been patronized by former IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Kenny Omega.
