One thing that professional wrestling fans don't get to see is what exactly goes on behind the scenes in the locker room area. Sure, there are some backstage segments but those are mostly staged and set up to not give any insight into the actual goings on behind the scenes.

But, just like any other workplace, the WWE locker room also has its fair share of leaders. There are those respected veteran superstars who are held in high esteem regardless of their position on the card. In a business built on respect, seniority is a huge factor.

Over the years, there have been a number of WWE superstars who have been the actual authority when it comes to the behaviour of wrestlers. So, without any further ado, here is our list of five WWE superstars who were locker room leaders:

#5 Trish Stratus

Trish made women's wrestling relevant again
Trish made women's wrestling relevant again

Trish Stratus is perhaps the best female WWE performer of the last 25 years, and there is little doubt as to her importance in helping establish women's wrestling during an era when female performers were often relegated to roles meant to pique the curiosity of men.

So, it comes as little surprise that at the peak of her powers, Trish was very much the leader of the women's dressing room. She was often the top-billed female wrestler and amongst the most respected of her time.

We can't even speculate where women's wrestling in the WWE would be today if it weren't for the efforts of Trish Stratus.

#4 Chris Jericho

When Chris Jericho first made his WWE debut some 17 years ago, he was seen as a cocky outsider coming in from WCW and was treated as such. Over the course of the next decade and a half, though, he has become a valuable and highly respected member of the WWE roster.

Y2J's influence has always been felt through his action and none more so than just last year at WWE Summerslam 2016. Following Brock Lesnar's bloody beatdown of Randy Orton, "The Ayatollah of Rock n Rolla" angrily confronted "The Beast" as he feared for Orton's safety.

#3 John Cena

He is Mr WWE for a reason

When John Cena made his WWE debut in 2002, he was nothing more than a kid with potential. Now, 15 years later, he is the face of Vince McMahon's precious wrestling promotion. You don't get to that level without being a leader in the back.

After winning his first WWE Championship, Cena was quick to establish himself as a key figure in the WWE locker room and took on more work and responsibility in order to increase his standing in the company.

While he has had a history of "burying people", there is no denying the work he is done for the benefit of the WWE.

#2 Triple H

You don't become an EVP without being a locker room leader

How often does a professional wrestler use his knowledge of the business to land himself a good job on the creative side of things? Once in a while. How often does one land himself the job of Executive Vice President of Talent Relations, Live Events, and Creative?

Only once, and that honour goes to Triple H.

"The Game" very much lived up to his name by being a huge presence in the locker room, and combined that with his grasp of the professional wrestling world to transition himself into the role of heir apparent to run the WWE.

#1 The Undertaker

Very much the top dog in the back

If you're talking about locker room leaders, look no further than The Undertaker. "The Deadman" was the judge of Wrestler's Court and the undisputed king of the locker room since the mid-1990s, all the way towards the tail end of his career.

There is no getting past the fact that Taker was the man to take care of all wrestler issues and only if things became really really serious would he go to Vince McMahon to settle matters.

Most of the stories relating to Wrestler's Court all have one thing in common: The Undertaker has the final say in things.
