5 WWE superstars with success outside wrestling

The Rock aka Dwayne Johnson.

There was a time when if you were a wrestler that was what you did. Day in, day out, you wrestled; sure you did the occasional interview, but it was to promote your wrestling stuff. The thought of having other careers in addition to one in the wrestling industry was unheard of.

Something odd started to happen near the turn of the century, we saw wrestlers writing books, and doing big name movies again. Slowly but surely it seemed all wrestlers were doing movies, and that having other jobs besides wrestling was par the course.

So who’s done it best? Who’s managed to go from wrestling to other professions better than anybody? Let's take a look.

#5 The Miz

The Miz in action.

Miz is kind of an ominous case. He already had enough popularity before becoming a wrestler. He was on reality TV before he ever made it to the WWE, and it was in the real world that Mike Mizanin unveiled his persona of The Miz and was known to a generation of MTV fans and continued his reign over reality TV when he joined the third season of Tough Enough.

The WWE decided to let him start acting in movies such as The Marine 3 and that's how his movie star persona started. Now Miz is getting more and more movie roles and is typically well received. He currently has worked on a lot of movies and has had plenty of TV appearances including as the host of Tough Talk on WWE Network.

#4 DDP

DDP giving some yoga tips

Diamond Dallas Page was a big name in WCW and had a decent run in the WWE. Although he wasn't as successful in the WWE, he did end up coming back a few times occasionally in recent years.

Nowadays, he is best known for DDPYoga. It is marketed as not your standard yoga programme and has many success stories. DDP has been pushing the product hard, even appearing in an episode of Shark Tank to try and get an investment, and start a mobile app.

There’s not much to say here but still, DDP has proven that wrestlers can also become successful entrepreneurs.

#3 Mick Foley

Mick Foley.

A wrestler writing a book on his own? That's not what a lot of people thought back in the day, but Mick Foley had to go and prove them wrong. As if four autobiographies weren't enough, he decided to write some novels and books dedicated to Children.

Besides being a successful author and a New York Times Bestseller, he acted in movies such as I Am Santa Claus. He has lent his voice to many TV shows including Squidbillies and Avatar: The Last Airbender.

He is probably best known for his one-man show, his delivery is great and he proved that he could make a great comedian. Foley may use his career in wrestling to base most of his projects in all media, but he shows enough personality that alone deserves a lot of praise.

#2 The Rock

Dwayne Johnson in The Rundown.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is better known to the mainstream audience as an actor now than a wrestler. The Rock has now appeared in over forty movies and his first leading role was in 2002’s The Scorpion King.

He’s well known for his role in the Fast and Furious movie franchise, as well as family movies like The Game Plan and The Tooth Fairy. He’s going to play Black Adam in the upcoming Shazam movie, meaning the superhero fans will have a whole new reason to like him.

This isn’t his first time messing around with the idea of Superheroes though, he produced and hosted a reality competition called the Hero, but he’s not the only superstar to host a reality show.
