5 WWE vs NJPW dream matches that can happen today

Wouldn't
Wouldn't a partnership be amazing?

Kenny Omega vs Chris Jericho is actually happening and everyone is losing their minds about it. I mean seriously, how amazing of a match is that going to be?

Y2J jumping over to New Japan Pro Wrestling to compete at Wrestle Kingdom 12 is a very big deal and it's surreal to write about it. This match is the stuff of fantasy booking except it will really happen.

It's excellent that Chris Jericho has the kind of deal with WWE where he could be able to do this kind of thing. It's actually unknown what kind of contract he has with Vince McMahon and Company but it has to be a very good one.

Of course, this big news is going to make some speculate what kind of matchups might be next between the two companies. WWE and New Japan are wrestling juggernauts and if they could join forces it would mean huge things for the business by creating a gateway between the two pro wrestling super promotions. If this leads to a rematch or with Okada vs in WWE anyone at WrestleMania 34 the world would be a much better place.

But the reality of things is as Pro Wrestling Sheet reported Chris Jericho is actually a free agent and has been working on this match since the mid-summer.

Since Omega vs Jericho is out of the way, let's explore other five fantastic matchups between New Japan and WWE that would be awesome to see.

#5 Kazuchika Okada vs Daniel Bryan

If
This one is actually doable

Let's get this one out of the way first be in all honesty it's the most likely to actually happen. I'm not the only one who mentioned this as soon as I heard about the Omega vs Jericho match either.

These two would not only put on an amazing match, but it could be the greatest match of all time. Dave Meltzer could find himself giving seven stars to a classic like this one.

Bryan and Okada's styles would meld together in a brilliant display as this contest would undoubtedly result in a fever pitch like no other inside any arena or stadium it takes place in.

Let's be honest, this entire list could be Daniel Bryan vs any member of the NJPW roster, but that's a list for another day. "The Rainmaker" vs "The Bearded GOAT" is certainly the most appealing by far which is why it made this list.

#4 Sheamus vs Tomohiro Ishii

This could
This would be a hard-hitting encounter

Let's move from a match where technical skill would be at a high level to one where two guys could just beat the stuffing out of each other. Sheamus is highly regarded as a wrestler known for being stiff in the ring. On the other hand, when you're talking about who hits hardest in New Japan Tomohiro Ishii has to be on the top of your list.

Just imagine the sickening sounds of flesh on flesh as these two brutes beat each other senseless. The chops would be nothing compared to the headbutts and every manoeuvre would be a power move.

No matter who wins this encounter, both Sheamus and Ishii would leave a little piece of themselves in the ring. The blood could be flowing and considerations of concussions would be out the window during this encounter. It would certainly be a violent affair, to say the least.

#3 Kevin Owens vs Tetsuya Naito

Just im
Just imagine this match

Few people really embrace the anti-hero on the current WWE roster like Kevin Owens. He delights in getting a rise out of the audience and always has something clever to say. His outstanding ability to build towards a match is the icing on the cake when considering the incredible ringwork he brings to the table.

Meanwhile, Tetsuya Naito is a charismatic anomaly as leader of the Los Ingobernables stable. He's able to mesh with any style he comes in contact with which is an attribute he shares with Owens.

These two would tear it up whether it was in a WWE ring or in the Tokyo Dome.

#2 The Usos vs The Young Bucks

Let th
Let the Superkick Party begin!

Considering the fact that WWE doesn't really appreciate The Bullet Club as much as the rest of the planet, this match is highly unlikely. But if The Usos and The Young Bucks did tangle it would be a battle of the superkicks for sure.

They could even spice this encounter up by giving it a neat stipulation like making it a "too sweet intellectual property rights on a pole match."

This match would be a high-action affair, to say the least. Only time will tell if WWE would every soften up to the idea of Nick and Matt Jackson's existence but if the two sets of brothers ever did meet it could turn out to be one of the best tag team matches of all time.

#1 Seth Rollins vs Hiroshi Tanahashi

Just
Just imagine the skills in this match

Hiroshi Tanahashi and Seth Rollins might actually be the most exciting match on this list for me. As a fan, I would mark out incredibly if this encounter were made official it would pit two of the world's best in the same ring in a battle for supremacy.

These two would put forth an amazing battle as Mr. Tokyo Dome would bring his all to topple The Architect. Tanahashi and Rollins would execute move after move in an attempt to top each other and walk away as the winner.

In all honesty, this feud could deserve multiple matches before the score is finally settled between these two. I would certainly give fans an awful lot to be excited about.
