6 of the best Dean Ambrose real-life stories

<p>

Dean Ambrose is one of the most popular Superstars on WWE's main roster right now as one-third of The Shield. The Lunatic Fringe was always the member of the group that was much better on the mic than Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, which allowed him to stand out when the trio first debuted back in 2012.

Before WWE, Ambrose had a long history on the Independent Circuit and performed for a number of promotions including Combat Zone Wrestling and Dragons Gate USA. He is also the only member of The Shield to never appear on NXT as a singles star before his main roster debut at Survivor Series back in 2012.

The WWE Universe has welcomed Ambrose into their hearts over the past five years, but it seems that the former World Champion has quite a few secrets when it comes to his life away from the ring, many of which have recently been revealed by his closest friends.

#6 When Seth Rollins met Dean Ambrose

Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have chemistry in the ring, and whether they are facing each other or standing next to each other on the apron, the duo has always had the ability to steal the show.

Ambrose and Rollins didn't meet when they were put together in The Shield five years ago, it seems that the duo worked together a long time before that when they were both working on the indy circuit and Rollins only recently revealed the circumstances in which he first met one of his best friends.

Rollins told the story on his DVD "Building The Architect" where he said:

“First time I met Dean Ambrose was in a small town, somewhere in the middle of Illinois… He was drinking a beer in the back of a moving truck before an independent show around there”

It sounds like Dean Ambrose certainly knows how to make a great first impression.

#5 Dean Ambrose saw wrestling as his escape

Dean Ambrose didn't grow up in the best of conditions, he dropped out of school when he was young because he decided that all he wanted to do was wrestle. Ambrose grew up in a single parent family alongside his sister and quickly learnt to be self-sufficient since his father had already left and his mother worked long hours to keep a roof over their head.

Ambrose himself admitted that his life was pretty dull when he was growing up, but he found excitement in the videotapes that he 'borrowed' from his local store that featured wrestlers from both WCW and ECW.

“There was nothing else. There was the crappy real world, and the awesome world of wrestling which was so much better.”

It seems that this was the thing that really opened Ambrose's eyes to a world of entertainment that he wanted to be a part of and he has worked hard to remain a part of it for the past few decades.

#4 Ambrose is convinced that he was haunted by a ghost

WWE recently unveiled a new series on the WWE Network called Superstar Ghost Stories, which sees many superstars reveal times they felt that they were haunted by ghosts.

Ambrose was part of the show and he revealed the time that he thought he encountered a ghost when the company was on tour in England.

"We were in a hotel in a very old city, with castles and bell towers and I was in the hotel gym, sweating and pumping and I've got to go down and catch the bus pretty soon so I'm looking at the wall clock which is directly in front of me and it just starts moving on its own."

It seems that Ambrose thinks that the ghost who was haunted him decided to change the time on the clock. The former World Champion stated that he tried to ignore it and continue to go about his business but the more he looked at it the more it spooked him out.

"I'm looking at the clock and it's just a normal battery operated clock, it's not plugged into to any electricity and no one could be messing with it. I keep looking at it because I'm not going to run away but right about when I almost get done, I look up one last time and the instant that I look at it both hands stop at 12 o'clock."

Ambrose decided that this was the final straw and got out of there, he later revealed that he talked to a number of other people who were in the hotel as well and they said that they were hearing noises and getting a bad vibe from the place.

Ambrose stated that he was pretty sure that he was being taunted by a ghost that day.

#3 Ambrose lied about his age so that he could train

At just 16 years old, Ambrose knew that wrestling was something that he wanted to do for a living. He had studied so many videotapes of different wrestlers in his younger years and was prepared to train and begin his own career.

The only problem was that Ambrose was too young to start training. When he first attended a class run by Matt Stryker and Cody Hawk Ambrose, he was just 16 years old, but he lied and said that he was 18 so that he could be part of the session.

Ambrose later slipped up and revealed his real age, which was when he was turned away by owner Les Thatcher and told to come back when he was old enough. Ambrose was furious and returned the same night he was turned away, refusing to walk away from the career he knew he wanted.

Hawk was forced to offer Ambrose a position as a member of staff until he was old enough to train, which he accepted, because he knew that he could sit and watch the three-hour training sessions on a regular basis so that he was fully prepared when he was considered to be old enough to step in the ring.

Les Thatcher later left the school, so Ambrose was able to begin his training when he was 17, instead of being forced to wait another year.

#2 Ambrose used to sleep on the floor in hotel rooms

The Shield's recent reunion has allowed the trio to finally take full advantage of the WWE Network, meaning that Rollins, Ambrose and Reigns have all recently appeared on both WWE Ride Along and Table for 3.

Whilst appearing on Table for 3 alongside his stablemates, Ambrose began talking about the early years working as part of The Shield, the days when the trio were forced to go everywhere together and travel together.

Of course, in the early years of their career, the three stars didn't have a lot of money, so they used to stay in hotel rooms with just two beds and Ambrose would sleep on the floor so that they saved money.

Ambrose is a guy who is used to sleeping in much worse conditions and he wasn't ashamed to admit that he did it to help his friends when they weren't earning a lot of money. Thankfully, Ambrose will never be forced to do anything like that again.

#1 Dean Ambrose married Renee Young at 1am in their back garden

Earlier this year, it was revealed that Dean Ambrose had married his long-time girlfriend Renee Young in a private ceremony in Las Vegas, so private that many of their friends didn't even know that they were married until the couple began wearing their rings.

Over the past few months, details of the wedding have been revealed by WWE broadcaster Renee Young, who admitted that the couple were married in the back garden of their home at 1am.

"We were going to bed! We were going to bed and he like busted out the ring and we were like, 'Oh man I guess we should do this now.' So we ended up going on Yelp and we found a 24-hour pastor to come to our backyard. It was so handy and his name was Pastor Pete and he lived around the corner from us, so he was there.

It seems that it's always handy to have a Pastor living around the corner since the couple decided they were getting married but they still needed a witness.

"They were very concerned by the way because it was 1 o'clock in the morning, so technically it was Sunday and they were very concerned about us calling, they were like, 'Is everything OK? Have you guys been drinking? What's happening?' We're like, 'It's fine, you can come down.' So we had to get a witness and we called and woke up a friend of ours and got it done."

It seems that the friend that the couple decided to ring at 1am was the only person who was aware that the couple were married at this point, so Renee then had to call her family and let them know that she was now married.

"We called them after it was done because it was 1 or so in the morning for us, so it was like 4 in the morning back home for my parents. So of course they answer the phone like, 'Is everything OK?!' It's very alarming to call anybody at that time of night it turns out, but my whole family was really excited."
