There is a streetfight in which Superstars fight all the way throughout the WWE arena among the fans, and then there is this match! The infamous Gulf of Mexico match fit perfectly with the hardcore theme of ECW, but the stipulation was in many ways weird.

The match took place on February 5, 2008, in ECW between the then ECW Champion Chavo Guerrero and CM Punk. The goal of the match was to toss your opponent into the Gulf of Mexico, which was outside the arena where the match took place.

The match started in the ring before the two made their way through the crowd to the outside of the arena. There were some insane spots throughout the fight including Chavo throwing the Best in the World into a car on the road. The two then went near the water and brawled near the edge of the cement.

After multiple attempts to suplex Punk into the water, Chavo received the Go To Sleep and went straight into the Gulf of Mexico. Punk thus won the match, though it was not for the ECW Championship!
