The season premiere of WWE RAW on September 10 is promising a show not to miss, and The Judgment Day can be expected to be up to their usual tricks. While Finn Balor's group continue to feud with Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley, they could run into a returning legend on Monday night.
Bret Hart is returning and is likely to be involved in at least one of the red brand's biggest storylines. His fellow Canadian Sami Zayn is targeting Gunther and the World Heavyweight Championship. The Hitman's first order of business in his hometown Calgary, Alberta, Canada, could be to fire up Zayn. The Excellence of Execution introduced The Underdog from the Underground to the main roster on WWE RAW in May 2015.
Sami Zayn interrupted Gunther last week and challenged him for the World Heavyweight Championship. He named Hart an example of a WWE legend who used the Intercontinental Championship as a stepping stone to further success.
The Canadian duo could share a heart-to-heart to open up the show. The five-time world champion could urge Zayn to continue targeting The Ring General. That could lead to Imperium's leader interrupting and arguing with both of them and trying to degrade the city of Calgary.
One wrong move ended his WWE career - Watch Now!
Bret Hart's night doesn't end there, as a potential Judgment Day interaction is possible. The evil group is always hanging around backstage, and they could look to get under the WWE Hall of Famer's skin.
The Excellence of Execution could condemn Finn Balor for his treatment of Damian Priest and how he screwed him over at SummerSlam. This plays into a potential mockery of the infamous Montreal Screwjob by Dominik Mysterio and the dastardly faction.
This would undoubtedly help the group receive more heat amid a somewhat unremarkable period for Judgment Day 2.0. Dirty Dom could particularly rile up fans at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Bret Hart may have thought that would be the end of his roller coaster ride of a RAW return, but Drew McIntyre seemingly has other plans. The Scottish Warrior, clean off breaking CM Punk's bracelet and sending him to the hospital, wants to take things further.
McIntyre demands Hart come to the ring so he can have a chat with The Best There Ever Will Be. The former world champ plans to take out one of his arch-rival's idols to complete his revenge story.
That's until Punk returns to save his hero and fight off the Scot. They throw fists, and security tries to separate them before RAW General Manager Adam Pearce intervenes. Pearce tells them that since they want to make everybody else's lives a living hell, they settle their differences in Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood on October 5.
When was Bret Hart's last appearance in WWE ahead of RAW return?
Bret Hart has made sporadic appearances in WWE since re-signing with the company in 2009. He'd previously spent 12 years away from the promotion after the Montreal Screwjob at Survivor Series in 1997.
The Hitman's last appearance on WWE TV was a ringside appearance at Clash at the Castle in the UK in September 2022. He'd previously appeared at SummerSlam three years earlier to wish Seth Rollins good luck against Brock Lesnar.
Bret Hart has also appeared elsewhere during this period, including in WWE's main competitor AEW. He unveiled their world title at Double or Nothing in May 2019 before sending a video message in for Ken Shamrock's TNA Hall of Fame induction in 2020.
Tonight's RAW will be Hart's first appearance in a Triple H-led WWE without Vince McMahon in charge. Given his involvement in the upcoming Netflix docuseries about his former boss, it promises to be an intriguing night.
