7 Dream Singles matches for Triple H at WrestleMania which never happened

Triple H
Triple H

One can’t really talk about WWE without talking about Triple H. The man has been there with the company for over two decades.

Over the years, he has given the fans dozens of memorable matches. Not to mention, his awesome promos as a wrestler as well as a corporate figure. Here is the list of seven superstars whom Triple H never faced in a singles match at WrestleMania.

#7 Shawn Michaels

Stephanie McMahon refers to Shawn Michaels as Triple H’s “road wife”. This speaks volumes about the friendship these two individuals share.

When Shawn Michaels returned from his retirement at SummerSlam 2002, he worked in a couple of great matches against his former best friend (storyline rivalry). The matches included non-sanctioned match, steel cage match, ladder match, street fight, the last man standing match and a hell in a cell match.

However, the two never squared off against each other at the most coveted PPV ever. The closest these both came to it was at WrestleMania 20 when Chris Benoit (winner) was the third piece of the puzzle.

#6 Mick Foley

The
The 'Sock' for the Game

The two were involved in a couple of classic matches in the late nineties. Triple H was then recovering from the “Curtain Call” incident, and Mic Foley was the epitome of courage with his “Daredevil” feats and unconventional wrestling style.

The two featured in the King of the Ring tournament final. Triple H came out on top in that brutal match, which was just the beginning of their rivalry.

Had the two has faced each other at the grandest stage of them all, it would have been a match burned down in the memory of wrestling fans.

#5 Stone Cold Steve Austin

How could this have not happened?

This was one of the most intense and closely felt rivalries of all time in WWE. At one point, WWE had to make both of them sign a contract stating they can’t put a finger on each other.

Even in the later years, when Stone Cold took repeated roles as Raw General Manager, the two would always get in each other face.

Stone Cold was the one who took the torch from Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 14, and it would have been ironic to have him return the favor against Triple H in one of the latter WrestleManias.

#4 Edge

The Game vs. The Ultimate Opportunist

Truth be told, Edge and Triple H weren’t booked that much against each other. WWE fans would have loved to see more of these two facing each other.

Triple H has always played the persona of the “Cerebral Assassin”, someone who is sharp and ruthless as a shark. He always had his moves calculated before he would make them. Edge, being the “Ultimate Opportunist”, would have been the ideal opponent for Triple H.

Fans would have loved to see Edge playing the “Game”.

#3 AJ Styles

This is the most possible match of the lot.
AJ Styles and Triple H could have a phenomenal match

AJ Styles has been with WWE since 2016. In his short but tremendous run, he has owned the show on the Tuesday nights. He rarely dropped the ball and is truly one of the greatest performers of all time.

Till now his paths haven’t crossed against Triple H and doesn’t seem to cross in the near future. Maybe until this year’s WrestleMania. There is a huge superstar shake up rumored to take place post WrestleMania and it would be a good opportunity for WWE to have a storyline involving these two.

We are hopeful to see this match at next year’s WrestleMania.

#2 CM Punk

Oh, My God!
Oh, My God!

Boy oh boy, could it get more personal than this?

CM Punk left WWE in 2014 after the Royal Rumble PPV. He has been specifically vocal about the differences he had against Triple H. On Colt Cabana’s podcast, Punk revealed that he was supposed to face and go-over Triple H at WrestleMania 30.

This is something far from a storyline and would soak-in a lot of personal emotions if the match makes to the drawing board this time. Given that once it was on the cards, we pray that it gets back on the card in the years to come.

#1 The Rock

One-on-one with the Great One
One-on-one with the Great One

The “Game” and the “Great One” are the two most popular figures in WWE. The two have been in the ring against each other in a match for whopping 73 times between 1996 and 2002. They competed in the singles as well as the tag matches.

7 opponents the Rock never faced at WrestleMania

It seems like a crime on the part of WWE to deprive fans of this iconic match at WrestleMania. There are only a couple of years left in the decorated careers of both these Superstars.

We hope these two share the ring for one last time at WrestleMania before wearing their Hall of Fame rings.
