As stated earlier, WWE Superstar Otis has had a very unusual year. In addition to winning Mandy Rose over Dolph Ziggler, he shocked the WWE Universe when he won the Money in the Bank contract just over a month later.
In the six months that Otis held the contract, there was never any real indication that he was ever going to cash it in. This led to The Miz, a former Money in the Bank winner, suing Otis, leading to a match for the contract at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.
During that match, WWE Universe witnessed one of the biggest shocks of the year when Tucker attacked Otis with the MITB briefcase. The betrayal came out of nowhere, as there was never any friction between the tag team before that moment. Regardless, it was still an interesting angle to the storyline.
However, after the betrayal, the only thing that came from the storyline was a very brief brawl backstage between the two after the match. Although it can be argued that Otis and Tucker never had a match due to being on different brands shortly afterwards, a match could have taken place at WWE Survivor Series.
However, the pay-per-view didn’t feature Tucker at all, and Otis focused on fighting for brand supremacy instead of seeking revenge on his partner for costing him the biggest opportunity of his career.
Considering the many reasons why tag teams have split up in the past, costing your tag team partner a major WWE Championship contract/opportunity would be ranked among the biggest reasons.
This can be attested to when Bayley betrayed Sasha Banks a few months earlier, when they failed to re-capture the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship after losing to Shayna Bayzler and Nia Jax.
The fact WWE failed to give an actual match between the two effectively leaves this storyline hanging in the air.
