We move on to Brock Lesnar during his time in developmental in OVW. About a year into his time in developmental, Brock decided that he was good enough to be called up to the main roster. He went as far as quitting OVW and threatened to go home to Minnesota if WWE didn’t call him up to main.

In an interview many years later, Gerald Briscoe spoke about a conversation he had with Brock at the time:

“One day I get a call, and it’s Brock. He’s really frustrated. He wanted to leave. Brock said, ‘I’ve got other options. It wasn’t an ultimatum or anything, it was just him giving me his lay of the land and telling me what’s going on. He said, ‘I want to be out of here in two months. We’re ready for the main roster.’”

Frustrated, Brock then quit OVW and threatened to move back home to Minnesota. Amazingly, WWE gave into the young Lesnar’s demands and called him up. Instead of repercussions, Brock was WWE Champion within a year of his main roster debut.

Lesnar didn’t have any of this and he suplexed his opponent, probably forgetting for a moment that he was no longer inside a wrestling ring.

Although Brock Lesnar is now called “The Beast Incarnate” his childhood nickname wasn’t quite so awe-inspiring.

In the 2003 DVD, Brock Lesnar: Here Comes The Pain, WWE interviewed Brock’s childhood friend Justin Gaikowski. While speaking about his childhood friend, Gaikowski revealed what Brock’s nickname was:

“’I used to call him ‘Broccoli’. When you’re young, nobody likes to eat broccoli. I’d be like, ‘Hey, Broccoli! You’ve got bad taste!’”

Thankfully, this never came to light during his feud with John Cena, because if it had, the WWE Universe would have never heard the end of it as the 'Leader of the Cenation' made it his business to point it out to the Beast Incarnate.

The year was 2001 and Brock Lesnar was still in Ohio Valley Wrestling, training to make his main roster debut for the WWE. Brock was arrested by police that year and charged with possession of steroids after Lesnar received a parcel of “steroids”.

The police stated that the contents of the parcel were steroids and charged Lesnar with a felony. However, Lesnar was cleared four months later. Lab tests later proved that Lesnar was innocent of any wrongdoing and that the contents of the package were not steroids. This was what Lesnar and his attorney had stated throughout and Brock was cleared of all wrongdoing.

Thankfully, Lesnar’s career was not adversely affected by this and he’s gone on to become a pro wrestling and combat sports legend.

We start off our story with the extremely infamous ‘Plane Ride From Hell’ in 2002. A number of WWE Superstars were returning to the United States on a chartered flight after a tour of mainland Europe and the United Kingdom.

Things got out of control on the flight and it led to several WWE Superstars getting fired including the ever-controversial Scott Hall. However, we’ll focus on what happened with Brock Lesnar and Curt Hennig for today.

Lesnar was minding his own business when the late Curt Henning came up to him and teased him about his amateur wrestling props. This led to Henning goading Lesnar into having an actual wrestling match on the aisle while the airplane was flying over the Atlantic.

While wrestling around the two of them even slammed against the Emergency Exit door, which could have blown open, leading to a far more serious incident. Several people had to get involved to separate the duo. This incident led to Henning getting fired from WWE.

Lesnar was innocent and thus there was no action taken against him.

Brock Lesnar returned to WWE in 2012, on the night after WrestleMania. He quickly got into a feud with the ‘Face that runs the place’ John Cena – their heated feud leading to a match at Extreme Rules 2012. This was Brock Lesnar’s first match since his return and despite being booked to lose, Brock was supposed to be made to look like a monster. This included Lesnar dominating most of the match and Cena having to be carried to the back in a stretcher after the match despite winning to get over what a beast Brock was.

However, after Cena won the match, he broke script and decided to cut a promo before walking to the back on his own. Needless to say, Brock was fuming. He screamed at producers backstage and accused WWE of trying to make his character look weak. Brock was so angry he even threatened to leave the company but he was eventually calmed down.
