Matt Bloom made his return to WWE in April 2012 under the Lord Tensai gimmick. Tensai went on a dominant run after his return. A couple of weeks into his return, Tensai faced John Cena in an Extreme Rules match on RAW. Tensai only managed to win thanks to interference from David Otunga distracting Cena but the winning streak continued.

In the following weeks, Tensai also managed to beat CM Punk to continue his winning run. It came to a grinding halt on an episode of RAW in May when he was finally beaten by Cena himself.
