As a part of the first round of AEW's World Title Eliminator Tournament, Kenny Omega faced Sonny Kiss instead of his original opponent, Joey Janela, who was unfortunately replaced due to being exposed to a COVID-19 positive person.

Omega arrived in the ring with a slightly theatrical entrance that referenced his 'cleaner' gimmick.

His match against Kiss only lasted a few seconds, and it was apparent from the comical look on Omega's face that his new character demands a less enthusiastic approach to in-ring action.

Although Omega looked nonchalant last night, he may have to step up in a big way in his semi-finals match against Fenix.

Dr Britt Baker also wrestled in a short match against AEW Dark's Kilynn King. Baker applied the Lockjaw with the help a surgical glove to tap out her opponent. This was probably a tune-up match for Baker on the road to eventually earning a title shot against the AEW Women's World Champion, Hikari Shida.

The inclusion of short bouts also felt good, since AEW often features matches that stretch unnecessarily at times.
