AEW News: Chris Jericho brutally attacks AEW employee
What's the story?
Chris Jericho attacked AEW employee and associate producer Michael Cuellari Marshall on the episode 15 of AEW - The Road to Double or Nothing.
In case you didn't know
Chris Jericho is one of the most famous wrestlers in the world. It's not wrong to call him a wrestling legend and is very fitting of the many nicknames that he goes by. Whether that be Lionheart, Ayatollah of Rock 'n' Rolla, The King of the World or in his current avatar as Alpha, Y2J has done it all.
When AEW announced that Chris Jericho signed with them, it did create quite a frenzy. Chris Jericho has said that this is best financial deal he's ever had. Moreover, it's quite that Vince McMahon was unhappy that one of his better WWE wrestlers had signed with AEW.
The heart of the matter
For weeks now, on AEW - The Road to Double or Nothing, it's been hinted that Chris Jericho believe that he's the reason why AEW has become the talk of the town. He has left messages berating Cody Rhodes in phone calls and on social media. Cody Rhodes finally decided to confront him on the matter.
Chris Jericho demanded that Cody Rhodes thank him as the company, Cody, Kenny all became 'legit.' Chris Jericho even brings up Dusty Rhodes saying that Dusty lied to him 20 years ago about being shot to stardom instantly and that Cody Rhodes is following in his father's footsteps.
Cody Rhodes does thank him but out of irritation. Eventually, this leads to Cody telling Chris to get the f*** out of his office. Cody walks away and Jericho says with quiet anger, 'You got it, Boss.' As Michael Cuellari Marshall tries to accompany Y2J to his car, Jericho attacks him from behind with his cane and brutally beats him down.
AEW are potraying Jericho as the top heel in the company. This makes sense as he comes across as self-serving and it's a smart ploy to use his stardom as the main part of his heel character. Chris Jericho will meet Kenny Omega at AEW Double or Nothing in the main event.
