A few weeks ago on NXT, Lio Rush defended the NXT Cruiserweight Championship against Angel Garza, who had defeated Tony Nese to earn the opportunity. The title bout ended controversially when Rush got the pinfall over Garza despite the challenger's foot being under the ropes. It led to speculations that the two will again collide for the NXT Cruiserweight Championship but instead, Rush faced the likes of Akira Tozawa and Kalisto for the gold.
Following his victory over Tozawa on the recent episode of NXT, Lio Rush didn't get the time to celebrate as Angel Garza attacked him backstage. The assault made it clear that Garza still has his sight set on the NXT Cruiserweight Championship. He went on to mention the Black-and-Gold brand's General Manager William Regal and Triple H in his latest tweet and called them out for protecting Lio Rush.
