Becky Lynch MUST lose her Women's Intercontinental Title to multi-time WWE champion, and, no, it's NOT Bayley

The story between Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria has quietly become one of the most compelling feuds in WWE’s women’s division. After Becky turned on Valkyria following their short-lived tag title reign on RAW after WrestleMania 41, the two Irish superstars have delivered high-quality matches and emotionally resonant storytelling that has only elevated The Bird Lady further in the eyes of the WWE Universe.

However, following what she considered a humiliating loss at Backlash, Lynch defeated Valkyria at Money in the Bank the same way she was beaten at Backlash, and looking back, the same way Lynch was beaten at NXT Halloween Havoc for the NXT Women's Championship, too: via a roll-up.

The difference was that while their first meeting ended in a handshake (NXT Halloween Havoc), the second instance ended in a post-match assault (WWE Backlash 2025). At Money in the Bank this weekend, however, Becky Lynch actually had to use nefarious means to become the new Women’s Intercontinental Champion. While Lynch has finally defeated her former protégé, the feud is far from over. If anything, it’s entering its most pivotal chapter yet.

Having said that, when it's all said and done, Lynch must drop the title to Lyra, who is a one-time NXT Women's Champion, a one-time Women's Tag Team Champion, and a one-time Women's Intercontinental Champion.

Becky Lynch and Lyra Valkyria's history is more layered than most rivalries on the current roster. Valkyria was originally set to team with Bayley at WrestleMania 41 to challenge for the Women's Tag Team Championship. However, Bayley was mysteriously attacked backstage ahead of Night One, and Becky Lynch replaced her in the match.

In the non-kayfabe world, this garnered a lot of criticism from the WWE Universe, which, despite loving The Man's return, was disappointed that Bayley was cheated out of a WrestleMania spot at Lynch's last-minute decision to return. Valkyria did become a double champion at WrestleMania with the help of her mentor, but when they lost them on RAW after The Show of Shows, Lynch turned on Valkyria, blaming her for the loss.

It was later revealed that Becky was the one who attacked Bayley backstage, taking her spot in the tag title match. This way, WWE turned the heat Becky Lynch received from a section of fans into the ongoing storyline, although it has also been reported that the heel turn was the plan all along, too.

Anyway, this planted the seeds for a deeply personal rivalry. Valkyria, who had already been winning fans over with her unique persona and in-ring brilliance, reached another level through this feud. And it’s no stretch to say that Big Time Becks, in reality, has been doing everything to get Valkyria over, big time.

On RAW after Money in the Bank, as Becky Lynch addressed the former champion, Bayley made her return and attacked The Man from behind. There is unresolved tension between Bayley and Becky going back years. While both have had extensive and successful runs as babyfaces and heels, they have found themselves on opposite ends of a conflict more often than not.

So now, The Role Model not only wants revenge on Becky but also wants to reclaim her standing in the women's division. Meanwhile, Valkyria looked taken aback by Bayley’s return, adding an intriguing wrinkle to her ongoing arc.

All signs point toward a blockbuster Triple Threat Match at SummerSlam between Becky Lynch, Bayley, and Lyra Valkyria. With WWE Evolution also coming up in just a few weeks, Big Time Becks may defend her title against Bayley there, with Lyra possibly lurking somewhere in the background, too.

At SummerSlam, it may be two of the greatest women's champions of the modern era clashing with a rising star in one of the biggest matches of the year.

More than anything, though, this is a huge opportunity for Lyra Valkyria. She finds herself at the center of attention, with two Hall of Fame-caliber performers gunning for the same title she held proudly on the main roster as the inaugural champion.

Valkyria’s first reign as Women’s Intercontinental Champion helped legitimize the new belt. Her matches were consistently excellent, and she was clearly being positioned as a future top star. But to truly cement her ascent, she needs to win the title back.

A Triple Threat Match is the perfect scenario. Not only does it allow her to outshine two of the best in the business, but it also gives WWE the chance to fully establish her as the new face of the women’s division. With Becky Lynch and Bayley doing their part to elevate her, this could be the coronation moment Lyra Valkyria has earned through her work, presence, and connection with fans. SummerSlam 2025 might just be the night the division crowns its future.
