Yet another example of the title being booked poorly
I was on a teleconference with Rusev a few hours ago where he was asked which match should potentially main event the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event. Without thinking twice, Rusev said that it should be the United States Championship match. Sadly, the reality is different from his dream.

Rusev and Nakamura weren't even on the show this week, after the personal angle with Lana. Moreover, Rusev and Nakamura will battle it out for the title on the Kickoff show at the Royal Rumble. It is truly no wonder why this title is not as prestigious as it used to be.
It would have made sense to work an angle between Rusev and Nakamura on this week's show to build some heat for their match ahead of the Royal Rumble. I guess it is what it is.
