We all love “The Beast Incarnate” and always hope to see him again in the WWE. We all have witnessed his ability and are aware about his potential, and there are some facts about him which each of you Lesnar fans would like to know.

10. Grew Up on a Farm

Lesnar has been billed from Minneapolis but he grew up on a dairy farm in a small South Dakota city named Webster. He was athletic since a very young age as he helped out his family on the farm. He began amateur wrestling when he was just 5 years old.

9. Arrested for Steroids at a Young Age

There have been speculations that Lesnar achieved his body size with the help of steroids and not just from hard work. In January 2001, at an age of 23, he was allegedly arrested for steroids. The charge was later dropped when the substance was recognized as legal growth hormones.

8. Stint in New Japan Pro Wrestling

After leaving the WWE, Lesnar had a brief stint in the New Japan Pro Wrestling from 2005-2007. There he declined to receive a slap from NJPW’s founder Antonio Inoki who is also a WWE Hall of Famer. Although, it is a rite of passage for every American wrestler to receive a slap from Inoki, Lesnar made it clear that “no one was going to slap him [me]”. He won the NJPW Heavyweight Championship with fantastic style in his first match.

7. The Youngest WWE Champion in History

Lesnar defeated The Rock at SummerSlam (2002) and became the youngest ever WWE Champion at the age of 25, a record which was earlier held by The Rock. In his debut year in the WWE, Lesnar also won the King of the Ring tournament and the 2003 Royal Rumble.

6. Involved in a Lawsuit with WWE after Leaving the Company

When Lesnar was released from his WWE contract, it stated a no-compete clause, which stated that he was free to try other sports except for Pro Wrestling and MMA. He went against the clause by wrestling in NJPW after his exit from the WWE.

5. Used to Team with Shelton Benjamin

On television, since his WWE debut, we never saw Lesnar form a successful tag team with any other wrestler. But, during his time at Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), he teamed up with his former college roommate and a former WWE wrestler, Shelton Benjamin, and won the tag titles on three occasions in WWE’s developmental territory.

4. Is Married to a Former WWE Diva

Lesnar engaged former WWE Diva Sable in 2004; they separated in 2005, then reconciled later that year and got married in 2006. The couple has two children, both sons, named Turk (b. 2009) and Duke (b. 2010).

3. Pursued a Career in the NFL

After leaving the WWE, Lesnar pursued a career in the NFL with Minnesota Vikings in 2004, he played as a defensive lineman. He played in some pre-season games but also created some controversies in the NFL because of his aggressive style of play which cost him his place in the Vikings and left him unsigned by the rest of the league. He was given an offer by the Vikings to play in the alternate NFL Europa League which he declined because he wanted to live close to his home and family.

2. Significance of his Chest Tattoo

Lesnar got a tattoo of a sword pointed upward at his throat inked on his chest in 2008. In his 2011 autobiography “Death Clutch,” Lesnar explained that the sword on his chest represents the countless pressures which he felt during a dark period of his life after he left the WWE. Lesnar said “I felt like life was holding a sword right up against my throat, so I went under the ink gun because I never wanted to forget exactly how I felt at that time.”

1. Ultimate Fighting Championship

Lesnar also tried his hand in MMA. He won his debut MMA match against Min-Soo Kim in 2007, but he lost his debut UFC match against Frank Mir in 2008. After this defeat he won his 4 UFC matches in a row, during which he also won the UFC Heavyweight Championship against Randy Couture. He successfully defended the title twice, ultimately losing it to Cain Velasquez in 2010.
