What's the story?

Big Cass made his long overdue return to WWE TV this week on SmackDown Live as part of the Superstar Shakeup, where he's been moved over from Raw.

In case you didn't know...

Cass hasn't been seen on WWE TV since last year when he was part of a feud with Enzo Amore and he suffered a knee injury in their Brooklyn Street Fight back in August.

The referee stopped the match when it was decided that Cass couldn't continue before it was then revealed that he had suffered a torn ACL and needed surgery.

Medical officials estimated that Cass would be on the sidelines for around nine months, but there had been a number of updates recently that speculated that Cass could be changing his name when he returns to the ring.

The heart of the matter

After eight months on the treatment table, Big Cass returned on SmackDown Live and seemingly hinted at a feud with Daniel Bryan.

The former NXT star was part of a backstage segment where he called Bryan a little man before seemingly measuring up to him.

It's worth noting that Cass wasn't referred to by name in the segment and WWE only tagged him into the post on Social Media, so he could make his debut on SmackDown Live in the coming weeks under a new name.

What's next?

There was no future plan that was made clear as part of the segment on SmackDown Live, but it seems that there could be an option for a feud between Bryan and Cass if the big man is cleared to return to the ring in the near future.

Author's take

Cass has been one of the rumoured returnees for the past few weeks alongside Samoa Joe and Jeff Hardy and now it seems that he can finally make his presence known on a new brand with a fresh start.

Cass's heel character wasn't working on Raw last year, but he could change it up on SmackDown and try again, a feud with Bryan is the perfect way to get him over as a heel given how popular Bryan is right now.
