– Bubba Ray Dudley, the one-half of The Dudley Boyz returned to the WWE after teasing his return at this years Royal Rumble.
Bubba who has been a 9 time WWE Tag Team Champion has returned for a final run with the company. He performed for TNA where he met his current girlfriend Velvet Sky, who is a wrestler on the TNA roster.
Bubba spoke with Scott Fishman of the Channel Guide Magzine about rejoining the company, his girlfriend and the difference between the earlier roster and the current one.
On the past roster vs the present roster
Bubba Ray who has been a part of one of the best tag teams in the WWE history during the attitude era spoke about the differences now and back then.
He praised everyone on the current roster and said that the whole locker room is great and filled with talented people. He pointed out that the only major difference has been that the wrestlers during the attitude era had a lot of freedom while nowadays the creative team wants each wrestler to contribute in a certain way.
“They’ve come up different ways in the business. Back in the Attitude Era you had guys that came up more the old school way, who were able to go out there and do what they wanted to get themselves over. This is as opposed to now where creatively WWE has much more of a presence and wants their wrestlers to do their job a certain way,” said Bubba.
On how their return was planned
Bubba praises Road Dogg and said that he was a huge part of their return back to the WWE. He said that he was contacted by Road Dogg for Royal Rumble and that is where the process of returning back started.
He also says that they have a very good relationship from the start as they won their first titles against the New Age Outlaws.
He said, “I always had a great working relationship with him in the ring and a good working relationship outside of the ring. Me and D-Von won our first WWE tag team championship from the New Age Outlaws. He got in touch with me. That’s how it all started.”
On Velvet Sky joining the WWE
Velvet Sky, who is Bubba Ray’s girlfriend currently wrestles in TNA. Bubba said that everyone knows about their relationship and the entire twitter universe would love to see her in WWE. He praised her about being the most over non-WWE female wrestler currently.
"She looks phenomenal. I think the fans and the WWE Universe would love to see her in a WWE ring. Who knows? Maybe it will happen one day.”
