What's the story?
WWE Superstar Carmella has set a company record now that she is the longest holder of the briefcase to date. As of today, Carmella has held the WWE Money In The Bank briefcase for 283 days.
In case you didn't know...
Carmella captured the Money in the Bank briefcase on 18 June 2017 at the WWE Money in the Bank PPV in the first-ever Women’s MITB Match. However, on the June 20th episode of WWE SmackDown LIVE, Carmella was stripped off her Money in the Bank briefcase by SmackDown LIVE GM Daniel Bryan.
A second Women’s MITB Match was set for the following week on the June 27th episode of SmackDown LIVE, where Carmella once again was victorious in the match when James Ellsworth climbed the ladder and dropped the briefcase down to her. That's how she regained control of the Money in the Bank briefcase and is yet to officially cash it in.
The heart of the matter
The previous record concerning the MITB briefcase was held by WWE Hall of Famer Edge who kept a hold on the MITB briefcase for 280 days.
WWE broke the news two days ago that Carmella is the new record holder in an article they posted on WWE.com.
After 281 days of moonwalking, trash-talking and keeping every single SmackDown LIVE female Superstar on her toes, Carmella has now held the Money in the Bank contract longer than anyone in WWE history.
"The Princess of Staten Island" surpassed the likes of Edge, John Cena, Daniel Bryan, Kane and literally every other Superstar to hold the all-powerful contract. #MellaIsMoney has never rung truer, and, naturally, Carmella took to Twitter to proudly celebrate the milestone.

What's next?
Carmella will be participating in the first-ever WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal this Sunday that will take place during the two-hour Kickoff Show. There is a speculation that she might cash her MITB contract in at "The Grandest Stage of them all".

Carmella has teased and tried to cash her MITB contract in for the last couple of weeks. It will be interesting to see what Carmella does at WrestleMania. She has been holding on to the coveted briefcase for a long time now.
There is a good chance that Carmella will cash the contract in at the RAW after Wrestlemania. Let's wait and watch how this story unfolds.
