The match started with Chris Jericho who entered the arena to a huge crowd ovation. As Jericho stood in the ring, the crowd went wild with chants of ‘Y2J’. Kevin Owens the US Champion entered next with the title belt on his shoulder and despite what he expected he didn’t get much support from the crowd.
The match began as Owens got out of the ring, looking to play some mind games. However, Jericho wasted no time and went straight for his former best friend. He brought the big man down and proceeded to continue his beat down.
Jericho took a leap from the top rope and hit Owens with an elbow to the face. He continued to deliver the shots straight to the US Champion and took to the top rope but before he could make the jump, Owens unloaded on Y2J.
For the next couple of minutes, Owens dominated the match and continued to beat Jericho. However, Jericho countered later in the match by putting Owens into his classic submission 'The Walls of Jericho', but luckily for Owens, he managed to break the hold by getting his finger on the rope yet again.
Jericho started taking out his anger out on the ‘New finger of America’ by going after his finger.
Finally, on getting KO back into the ring, Y2J proceeded to introduce Owen’s to ‘The Walls of Jericho’ yet again and this time (no matter how hard he tried) Owens was unable to find the rope this time and succumbed to the submission, allowing Chris Jericho to regain his United States Championship.
Bookies were predicting the victory for Jericho.
