WWE Clash of Champions 2019: 4 ways to make the show more exciting

Is Daniel Bryan actually not the mastermind behind the mystery attacks?

Clash of Champions, as the name implies, will see each and every championship belt on Raw, SmackDown, and 205 Live brands defended. This uniqueness makes it one of the more hotly anticipated pay-per-views of the year, as the chance of seeing new champions get crowned during the night is at its peak.

Keeping all that in mind, WWE will focus on trying to make the event as big and eventful as possible to build more hype around it not just for this edition but also for the coming years.

As the event will be following the successful SummerSlam 2019 event, the creatives will need to put in all they’ve got to continue the success and the quality to ensure the fans don’t lose trust in the company or turn to competitors.

In this article, we will look at 4 things WWE must do to make Clash of Champions more interesting and eventful and possibly make it the best event of the year.

#1 Book a match for Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre has been a lethal force upon making his debut on Raw during the Superstar Shakeup 2018. He was paired with Dolph Ziggler and the two soon became the Raw Tag Team Champions.

While the success he got during mid-2018 suggested that he would be the Next Big Thing in WWE for years to come, we have seen his value drop in recent months.

He has suffered quite a few defeats in recent matches, and his last pay-per-view singles match came in June 2019 against Roman Reigns at Stomping Grounds where he took the pin from The Big Dog.

WWE needs to put the spotlight back on the Scottish Psychopath, especially at a time when destructive heels such as Bobby Lashley and Lars Sullivan are out with injuries and McIntyre has a chance to grow more.

McIntyre should be booked in a good match for the pay-per-view where he can emerge victoriously and bring the dominance back into his game so he can once again emerge as a legit threat to the superstars on Raw.

#2 Allow Cedric Alexander to challenge AJ Styles

Cedric Alexander was on his way to clinch the biggest main roster opportunity he has gotten till now until The O.C. showed up. The former Cruiserweight Champion was scheduled to take on Baron Corbin during the quarter-finals of the King of the Ring tournament, but AJ Styles, Gallows, and Anderson attacked the babyface for no real reason.

While the attack proved to be too much for Alexander, who went on to lose against Corbin due to the injuries he received, he could come after Styles to exact revenge.

Since Styles vs Ricochet worked pretty well, WWE could give fans a similar story by bringing Cedric Alexander in the United States Championship picture and allowing him to challenge The Phenomenal One for Clash of Champions.

Alexander has already defeated the mighty Drew McIntyre in the past, and such a high profile rivalry against a veteran will definitely help boost his career.

#3 Sheamus returns

Sheamus has been missing from active competition for quite some time, and this has also led to the breaking up of The Bar and a restart of Cesaro’s solo career.

The reason for Sheamus’ inactivity seems to be a concussion which has haunted him in the past, and we are hopeful that he will be able to make a full recovery and return to competing soon.

Clash of Champions is one of the top shows which could prove to be the perfect stage for his return, as so many championships are on the line during the event and Sheamus is championship material.

However, it’d be even more interesting if Roman Reigns is booked to take on Daniel Bryan, the alleged mastermind behind the mystery attacks, but is instead attacked by the real man behind those attacks revealed to be Sheamus himself.

There is no better way for such a big superstar to return than by sparking a feud with The Big Dog.

#4 Randy Orton dethrones Kofi Kingston

Kofi Kingston’s fairytale run will need to come to an end sooner than later, and he is currently involved in a feud for his WWE Championship against Randy Orton.

As one of the best heels our generation has ever seen, Orton seems like the perfect threat for any top superstar, be it Kofi Kingston, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, or Brock Lesnar. Keeping that in mind, if WWE is planning to take the title off Kofi soon, then they should allow Orton to take it from him.

Orton is the most believable superstar to end any champion’s streak and has everything it takes to make a dominating challenger and a worthy champion. Orton’s work in recent weeks have shown why the WWE Universe believes he is the biggest threat to Kofi’s biggest prized possession, and if Orton takes it away from him, the WWE Universe will get even more invested in the feud.

After having a decent match at SummerSlam we can expect these two to put on an even better show at Clash of Champions where WWE could give us a big change of champions.
