WWE/ Impact Wrestling (TNA) News: Damien Sandow comments on his future in wrestling
Damien Sandow comments on his future in wrestling
What’s the story?
The man formerly known as Damien Sandow – and now also formerly known as Aron Rex – may no longer be a part of the Impact Wrestling roster, but that doesn’t mean he’s done with wrestling. According to the former Intellectual Savior of the Masses, he’s simply trying some new things.
In case you didn’t know...
Sandow (which we’ll be calling him from here on in, just to keep things simple), went to Impact last fall after he was released by WWE. While his original persona was more in line with Sandow’s actual personality, he later debuted a new gimmick inspired by Liberace. However, when he spoke to Title Match Wrestling this weekend at WrestleCon, he revealed that he was no longer on the company’s roster.
“Ending on this note isn’t a bad thing,” Sandow told them, "I'm not saying that I'm never going to get in the ring again, but this is pretty cool, and I'd much rather have people remember me for all the good stuff."
The heart of the matter
Since then, Sandow has jumped on Twitter to reassure his fans that they haven’t seen the last of him.
I never said retirement. I'm just doing some other stuff for a while. One thing I will never do is lie to you guys. #KeepinIt— Aron Stevens (@AronsThoughts) April 5, 2017
I am not retired. @lmpactWrestIing was some of the most fun I have had in my career, great company. Just exploring other opportunities.— Aron Stevens (@AronsThoughts) April 5, 2017
Hopefully, he keeps his word.
So, what does Sandow have up his sleeve for the future? He hasn’t said yet. He previously mentioned, in a profile with Rolling Stone , that he’d like to study Shakespeare. Perhaps a move into the world of acting – much like The Rock, John Cena, Dave Bautista, and Wade Barrett is on the cards? Maybe he’ll journey into the world of podcasting? Or, perhaps, it’s something we haven’t even thought of?
Hey, I like Sandow as much as the next guy. As much as I want to see him in the ring or on my TV, I want to see him entertain people. I hope to see him do something cool very, very soon.
