Exclusive: Al Snow on his incredibly bizarre relationship with Mick Foley

Al Snow and Mankind have a storied history!
Al Snow and Mankind have a storied history!

Recently, I had the pleasure of speaking with legendary wrestler turned well-respected trainer Al Snow about pretty much everything from his memories of teaming with Marty Jannetty and fighting in the Mississippi River, to running OVW, helping develop and re-establish the promotion, and of course running his very own Al Snow Wrestling Academies around the world.

The former WWE Hardcore and European Champion, though, also opened up about his bizarre relationship with the man he held the Tag Team Championships with, Mankind.

After their partnership, Snow betrayed Foley due to Foley's jokes about him in his autobiography, Have A Nice Day, and a growing jealousy of Foley's new tag team partner - a certain Great One, the Rock. This wouldn't last too long with Al Snow's heel run being essentially overturned by crowd reaction, with the WWE Universe refusing to boo the man who would be at the wrong end of many jokes when the Hardcore Legend became the Commissioner in 2000.

The pair are friends in real life, and Foley continued to joke about Al Snow in his second book, Foley Is Good: And the Real World Is Faker than Wrestling. The pair would also meet up again in Impact Wrestling several years later.

Oh, working with Mick was easy because, for whatever reason, we just shared some kind of chemistry and clicked as a pair.
Of course, I don't know what Mick's obsession with me is, I think it borders on having a sexual disposition. Anyone who's that obsessed with someone clearly has to be attracted to them. There's no other excuse for it, it's disturbing - and let's face it, he's not that attractive a guy!
