Kevin Owens is one of WWE's most valued assets, and hence, WWE decided to give the Universal title to the Prizefighter after the inaugural champion, Finn Balor, relinquished his title after suffering a legitimate injury.
Owens had a fun run with the belt - and his segments with Chris Jericho were the best part of RAW back in 2016 and early 2017. However, since losing his Universal title to Goldberg at Fastlane 2017, Owens has never held another world title.
However, if Owens could manage to win the WWE Championship at Fastlane 2019, he would join a club with only two members in it. Owens would become only the third WWE Superstar to win both the Universal Championship and the WWE Championship. Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns are the only WWE Superstars who are currently in this club.
