Kurt Angle's last match with Baron Corbin has proved controversial

If some reports are to be believed, there is still every chance that we will be seeing this match take place come April 7th, such has been the colossal backlash to the announcement that Kurt Angle's final match inside a WWE ring will be against Baron Corbin.

Big Match John is without a match at this year's WrestleMania, which is only the second time since WrestleMania XX fifteen years ago that he has missed the show.

The 16 time World Champion teased a match with Angle on his social media feeds, but nothing ever came of it, with Angle instead announcing that he would be taking on Baron Corbin.

While, from a narrative perspective, Corbin does make a lot of sense as Angle's last opponent, the former Constable of Raw has not done anywhere near enough in the ring to prove he is ready for such a historic encounter.

Cena and Angle have tons of history together, and this would have been a much more fitting way to say goodbye to one of the greatest superstars to have ever laced up a pair of boots.
