Five Reasons Why John Cena Versus The Undertaker at WrestleMania 34 Is a bad idea

The Undertaker,

Take Daniel Bryan's win at WrestleMania 30 for example, where Bryan was somehow able to beat Triple H, Batista and Randy Orton to win The WWE Title in one monumental night. Not only was the match practically begged for by fans in the months leading up to the show, it turned out to be one of the best matches in modern day WWE history.

Sure, it had its flaws and some fans probably weren't happy with the end result, but WWE had finally listened to the fans and gave them something that they could be proud of. Furthermore, WWE finally gave one of their most talented superstars the respect and moment that he deserved.

Unfortunately for The WWE Universe, there are other matches that WWE throws together for one reason or another and while it probably would have been a good idea further down the line, it is completely meaningless now. In fact, that's the best way to describe the rumored match between The Undertaker and John Cena at WrestleMania 34.

Here are five reasons why.

#5.Lack of interest.

WWE Universe.
The WWE Universe all fired up for WrestleMania 33 in Orlando.

WWE first proposed the match between John Cena and The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33, but were supposedly met with so much backlash for the idea that they quickly pumped the breaks on it entirely. While public opinion of the match probably has gone up a little bit, especially since it means that The Deadman would come out of retirement, it's not enough!

With that being said, there are much better options for both superstars then the proposed match between The Undertaker and John Cena and WWE would be much better off if they stuck to those ideas instead. Not only because it creates a complicated booking situation that will be discussed later, it also undoes what happened a year ago.

#4 Hurt Roman Reigns push.

Roman Reigns,
Roman Reigns gearing up for a match.

Why WWE would be trying to have their cake and eat it too is beyond comprehension, but that appears what they are trying to do with the match between Undertaker and John Cena. Its no secret that Reigns's dominant win over The Deadman at last year's WrestleMania was built upon the fact that Undertaker was done, but now he might not be and that's a problem

Not only does it suddenly take away the fact that Reigns supposedly retired The Undertaker at last year's WrestleMania, which was one of the major selling points of the entire match, it also leaves a gap in booking due to the problem with The Phenom not wanting to avenge his most lopsided loss to date.

If WWE really wanted to do something special here, why not have The Undertaker versus Roman Reigns part two and allow Undertaker to avenge his loss. Sure, it would hurt Reigns and do virtually nothing for the future of the company, but neither did The Rock versus John Cena and that was one of the most hyped up matches of all time.

In the end, WWE needs to be careful not to undo what they already did at last year's WrestleMania. Of course, anything is possible and WWE might actually be leaning towards making a mistake like this.

#3 Hurts Undertaker and John Cena

The Undertaker,

Let's talk about this nightmare scenario in depth for a minute.

In fact, let's say that The Undertaker is somehow able to come out of this matchup with a victory over one of WWE's top draws. What does it achieve? Who does that even benefit in the end? Now that's not to say that the match up doesn't have all the makings of a dream match bundled in it, but it does absolutely nothing at the end of the day.

Not only does it do absolutely nothing for the future of the company, it also could have devastating effects on both superstars as well. Sure a victory for The Phenom would be fun to see, especially after the defeat he took last year in the main event, but that would add a third straight loss for John Cena.

It's no secret that Cena losing would begin to crack away at his rock solid credibility and also start to hurt him as a box office draw as well. With that being said, if the reverse happened and John Cena somehow walked away with the victory of a lifetime, it means that The Undertaker now has three losses at Mania and two in a row at that!

Neither of those are good scenarios for WWE and is only going to significantly hurt the product by doing this. In the end, hopefully, WWE decides on different match ups for both superstars and doesn't put this doomsday match into play. Either that or try to justify one of the biggest blunders in WWE history.

#2 Better opportunities

Baron Corbin,
Baron Corbin making his way to the ring!

You're only lying to yourself if you think that there aren't better options this match. Yes, it might be a dream match on the same levels of Undertaker versus Sting, Finn Balor versus Brock Lesnar and AJ Styles versus Shinsuke Nakamura, but its also one that pails in comparison when you think of the other opportunities here for both superstars.

For example, WWE could do something like The Undertaker versus Finn Balor or Undertaker versus The Miz, which would no doubt do something to boost both superstar's profile in the company and could lead to a title run if done right. Not only that, it also gives them one of the biggest wins of a lifetime.

And then there's John Cena, who would be much better off in a match against Jinder Mahal or Baron Corbin, which could also be a great career booster. In fact, John Cena's age, and title run last year makes him a much better candidate for a torch passing moment and that would truly be a WrestleMania moment worth watching!

#1 The Undertaker can't have a good match.

The Undertaker,
The Undertaker.

Call me crazy if you want, but a WWE fan only needs to look at last year's match between Roman Reigns and The Undertaker to see that The Deadman isn't capable of having another decent match. He's too old, he's too immobile inside the ring and hes too injury prone to do anything interesting in the match.

It would honestly just be a match up between the five move of doom and the three or four moves that The Undertaker can still kinda do without completely hurting himself. No more suicide dives over the ropes, no more breathtaking reversals after being placed in position for The Attitude Adjustment, and definitely nothing worthy of a WrestleMania match.

Does it suck to not see a match that pits two of the greatest superstars of all time against each other? It might for some, but hopefully fans can take comfort in the fact that the problems listed above won't exist and the company will be much better off for it. What are your thoughts?
