From the Impact Wrestling/GFW Rumor Mill: Update on future television taping locations

W
What does the future hold for Impact Wrestling?

What's the story?

Impact Wrestling continues to be the wrestling promotion that could. They think they can, they think they can... and they usually end up succeeding in their own way. If anything, they're able to make it work for their own purposes. With yet another transition into a new regime, Impact Wrestling is getting their future television tapings worked out. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter provided some clarity about what could be next for them.

In case you didn't know...

It seems Impact Wrestling is constantly evolving. If other pro wrestling companies changed as much as Impact Wrestling does it might not stand out as odd, but it is hard to argue this is the norm.

Impact Wrestling and Jeff Jarrett recently needed to part ways once again due to some personal issues I really hope Double J is working on. I wish him the best not only because he's a great guy but a lot of people sincerely care about him. Since then, the company announced some Candian events. But what is in store for them after Bound For Glory?

The heart of the matter

It was noted in The Wrestling Observer Newsletter once Impact Wrestling is finished taping their next shows in Ottawa there are a couple other candidates in mind to host the next real set of television shows. New York, Chicago, and other larger US markets are being considered as prime candidates although it's doubtful they'll leave Canada. Because of how expensive it would be to record their television in a major US city, it's likely Impact Wrestling will keep with their current Canadian trend.

Canada is also offering Impact Wrestling tax breaks to film in their country which might be one of the primary reasons why Bound For Glory and the television tapings to follow were chosen to take place in Canada.

It was also noted in a previous issue that Impact Wrestling is planning some kind of television taping at WrestleCon. This is not only a wise decision which would almost ensure a passionate audience but it would also allow for several legends from pro wrestling's past to take part in the show since they'll be in town anyway.

What's next

Impact Wrestling will keep going as long as they can. There is no shortage of incredible talent in the company, but there are also plenty of wrinkles which need to be ironed out first.

Author's take

I've been a fan of Impact Wrestling since their first weekly PPVs back in 2002. It's been a long time since then and a lot of their main talent has taken off, although a couple names have stuck around.

Impact Wrestling is a great idea in theory but they need to implement some serious revenue gaining tactics very soon if they want to stay afloat. After all, they aren't owned by Panda Energy anymore which would usually shell out money at a moment's notice to keep Dixie Carter's pro wrestling company in operation.

Finding a way to make it work can't be an easy task because plenty of things need to change. But as Impact Wrestling transitions once again, I'm sure they'll find their footing. It just might need to take place in a location a little bit more Nothern than Orlando, Florida.
