From The Rumor Mill: Backstage heat on Big Cass after he went against WWE script?

Is Cass in trouble with WWE?
Is Cass in trouble with WWE?

What's the story?

According to a report by ProWrestlingSheet, Big Cass could have a lot of heat on him from backstage officials right now after he failed to follow the script as part of a recent segment on WWE TV.

In case you didn't know...

Big Cass only recently returned from a lengthy injury lay-off and was thrust into the spotlight in a feud with Daniel Bryan. Cass was defeated by the former World Champion at Backlash before he was then left off SmackDown Live this week.

This wouldn't be the first time Big Cass was the subject of backstage heat, last year it was reported that Cass wasn't making a lot of friends in the locker room because he was a keen supporter of Donald Trump and was very outspoken about it.

The heart of the matter

Big Cass was part of a segment involving a little person last week on SmackDown Live where ProWrestlingSheet reports that the original script showed that he was supposed to just kick him once to end his promo. The wrestler who was impersonating Daniel Bryan at the time wanted to take more than just a kick so he asked for there to be a beatdown but this was rejected by both the creative team and Vince McMahon.

Despite this, it appears that he went into business for himself and Cass then grabbed the impersonator and punched him whilst he was down on the ground. Cass has only recently returned to WWE and after showing that he obviously can't follow instructions, this could be the reason why he lost to Daniel Bryan three days later.

What's next?

Big Cass attacked Bryan after their match at Backlash, but Bryan then moved on to face Rusev this week on SmackDown Live and Cass didn't make an appearance so it's currently unclear what the future holds for the seven-foot star.

Author's take

If Vince McMahon personally turned the idea down, then it probably shouldn't have been something that Cass should have gone through with. Cass needs to push himself forward out of the shadow of Enzo Amore in the future and stunts like this are not going to allow him to move up the card on SmackDown Live.
