Dolph Ziggler has reportedly signed a pretty good deal for the next two years

What's the story?

Dolph Ziggler was rumoured to have signed a new WWE contract last week after months of it seeming as though The Showoff would work away from the company. But it seems that it was a contract that the former World Champion couldn't say no to as more details about his new deal have come to light.

In case you didn't know...

Dolph Ziggler relinquished the United States Championship back in 2017 and then walked away from the company, as much of the WWE Universe believed that he wouldn't be returning.

Dolph then appeared at The Royal Rumble when he was a shock entrant at number 30, even though he didn't remain in the match for very long. The Showoff returned to SmackDown Live this week and won his match against Sami Zayn to book his place in the fatal five-way match for the WWE Championship at Fastlane.

It seems that Dolph signed quite an interesting deal since some of the details have already stated that he is now in a position where he is able to be part of outside projects as long as they don't conflict with the schedule WWE wants him to work.

The heart of the matter

Sports Illustrated have reported that Dolph Ziggler recently signed a two-year contract with WWE that is worth $1.5 million a year for the former World Champion. It seems that this added to the news that Dolph is now able to leave the arena after his matches and continue his work as a comedian outside of the company are the main reasons why this was reported to have been a deal that Dolph couldn't refuse.

It is also reported that contrary to other reports, it was always the plan for Ziggler to re-sign a WWE contract it just seems that he needed a break from the company for a few weeks towards the end of 2017.

What's next?

Dolph Ziggler has already qualified for the fatal five-way match for the WWE Championship at Fastlane after his win over Sami Zayn on this week's SmackDown. It will be interesting to see if Dolph is pushed to another Championship after his 11th hour signing this past week.

Author's take

Dolph Ziggler is one of the best wrestlers that WWE has ever signed and the fact that he has remained part of the company for more than a decade when many other stars have been released proves just how good he really is. Ziggler still has a lot of good performances ahead of him and this is hopefully the start of another interesting two years for the former World Champion.
