From the WWE Rumor Mill: Backstage concern over Kurt Angle's in-ring return

Wi
Will he be able to play it safe?

What's the story?

Kurt Angle is making an in-ring return at TLC and although it was a totally unexpected booking decision, fans are still incredibly excited to see The Olympic Hero back in a WWE ring. But Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that there is already some concern backstage.

In case you didn't know...

Kurt Angle had an amazing career in the WWE but left to spend a decade in TNA. It's been eleven years since Kurt Angle laced up his boot to perform in a WWE ring. But that time away from WWE competition for Angle is quickly coming to an end.

The heart of the matter

The main event at TLC is bound to be an exciting match full of high spots and intense action. But Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE officials are concerned about the possibilities a TLC match could bring to the table.

Seeing how Kurt Angle has never been one to have the mentality of "another guy in the background” it's possible he'll be taking some big risks. Meltzer noted how he wouldn't be surprised to hear reports that Angle is told to tone it down before the match.

What's next?

Now that Kurt Angle has been approved for an in-ring return it's pretty much a lock that fans will see him in another match down the line. As previously reported there's a very big chance he'll be featured in one of the Big Four pay-per-view events.

Author's take

Kurt Angle's return to the ring will give a lot of fans a reason to tune into TLC that might not have been interested in seeing an event wrapped around a single match. But Kurt Angle's return is a big deal and will hopefully result in many more matches to come. Let's just hope he's able to play it smart out there so we can get more matches down the road out of The Olympic Hero.
