Big Show's future in WWE is currently unclear

What's the story?

According to Sports Illustrated, The Big Show's contract with WWE is already up, and the company has retained him for the time being with an agent's deal.

In case you didn’t know…

It has been rumored for long that the Giant's contract with WWE was set to expire in February 2018. Some other reports indicated that Show might be back for one more match at WrestleMania.

The legend himself took to social media to address these rumors, saying that he wasn't going anywhere yet, as can be seen in his tweet from last week:

The heart of the matter

Big Show himself had talked about his WWE contract this time last year, saying that his contract was set to expire in February 2018. However, it is not yet clear what his current status with the company is.

According to SI's report, it is indeed true that Show's contract with WWE is up. However, WWE has reportedly hired Big Show on an agent's deal, which means that while the Superstar can continue on WWE, he cannot appear on other independent shows.

However, there is no official word on the matter, either from Show or the WWE.

What's next?

The 7-foot giant underwent hip surgery in September last year and is rehabilitating from the same. From his recent posts though, Big Show looks to be in great shape.

Though Show was scheduled to face Shaquille O'Neal last year at WrestleMania, the match never materialized. It remains to be seen whether the Giant will be a part of the Show of Shows this year.

Author's take

The Big Show is a legend in the business and deserves to have a proper send off at the Grandest Stage of them All. Here's hoping WWE can find a spot on the WrestleMania card for him this year.
