What's the story?

If there's one WWE Superstar that the Universe is rooting for, to win the Royal Rumble, it's SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan. While this possibility was not even a matter worth considering a few days ago, it turns out that betting sites have cited him as a favourite, this year.

Unfortunately, Cageside Seats has some bad news for the WWE Universe, in their Rumor Roundup. Bryan has still not been cleared to wrestle, at this time!

In case you didn't know...

Daniel Bryan may just be the most popular professional wrestler of the modern era, with his incredible in-ring prowess and natural likability.

So much so, that when he was eliminated from the 2015 Royal Rumble match, the crowd booed the eventual winner, Roman Reigns, out of the building.

Owing to a string of concussion-related injuries and issues, Bryan retired from the ring in 2016 and has since then become an authority figure on SmackDown Live.

The heart of the matter

Cageside Seats says that rumours indicate that, despite speculation to the contrary, Daniel Bryan has not been cleared to wrestle yet. This means that there are no plans for him to appear in the Royal Rumble match.

This is despite the fact that betting sites have cited his name as a favourite to win this big match. It may be wishful thinking on the part of some enthusiastic parties, at this point.

What's next?

With Bryan not being cleared to wrestle, we are curious where the Shane McMahon-Daniel Bryan feud is headed? What will the payoff be? Guess we'll learn in some weeks!

Author's take

It would have been great to see Daniel Bryan in the Royal Rumble match. However, if he cannot make it, we can live with that.

All said and done, we're certain that this will be a Rumble to remember.
