From the WWE Rumor Mill: Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships design confirmed
What's the story?
After several reports earlier this month that WWE could be introducing new Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships for the 205 Live brand after WrestleMania, a photo leaked online of the belts' template.
Well, now the design has seemingly been confirmed after a more detailed image of design the new belts has been uncovered.
In case you didn't know...
PWInsider.com broke the news at the start of this month that there are plans in the works to introduce Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships for the 205 Live brand, seemingly after a very succesful overhaul of the product since Triple H took charge.
The show has had a much-improved structure recently, with the athleticism and in-ring action being given a greater platform with character development pushing through too - but the show has been greatly built around a tournament to crown the new Cruiserweight Champion. This is set to change after WrestleMania, though, and it looks like we'll see the introduction of a tag team division on the purple brand.
Well, Pro Wrestling Sheet have both seemingly confirmed the news of the belts and their possible design.
The images were uncovered after TMZ reported that WWE will take legal action to res bootleggers in New Orleans from selling counterfeit merchandise over WrestleMania weekend.
WWE submitted a hefty document of trademarks and design patents - one of which is seemingly the so far unreleased Cruiserweight Tag Team Championships.
This design very closely resembles the template we originally reported would be the design three weeks ago, after custom belt creator Leather By Dan posted on Twitter.
Well, there's no official word yet on when we may see the new titles, or even confirmation of the belts from WWE - but I'd guess that may be imminent with the Cruiserweight Championship Tournament final taking place in two weeks at WrestleMania.
Well, the confirmation of the new titles is incredible news for 205 Live and will add even more depth to a roster prospering with Triple H at the helm. As far as the design, I thought the template looked okay - but I'm somehow not convinced by the new image.
