What’s the story?

According to a report from the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, former WWE Champion Chris Jericho is likely to face Tetsuya Naito this March.

Apparently, the working idea, as of this time, is to have Jericho compete against Naito at NJPW USA: Strong Style Evolved.

In case you didn’t know…

Following his highly regarded matchup against IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega at Wrestle Kingdom 12, Chris Jericho attacked Tetsuya Naito at NJPW’s New Year’s Dash show.

Resultantly, the vast majority of professional wrestling experts are of the view that NJPW plans to pursue a long-running feud between Jericho and Naito in the days to come.

The heart of the matter

Chris Jericho recently reiterated the aforementioned belief in multiple interviews, alluding that he does intend to pursue a few more matches in NJPW.

Although he’s left the door open for a WWE return, Jericho appearing at the WWE’s Royal Rumble later this month is unlikely. Nevertheless, on the flip side, given Jericho’s attack of Tetsuya Naito at New Year’s Dash a few days ago, experts believe that the two mega-stars are set to feud for the foreseeable future.

What’s next?

NJPW USA: Strong Style Evolved will take place at the Walter Pyramid in Long Beach, California on March 25th. Ticket prices for the event range from $50 to $200.

Author’s take

Chris Jericho is perhaps one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. He is a once in a generation talent who truly understands the intricacies of the business.

While Jericho has faced almost every top Superstar in the WWE, the only top current NJPW star he’s faced is ‘The Cleaner’ Kenny Omega. Are you excited about Jericho facing off against Tetsuya Naito, and possibly other NJPW elite as well? Sound off in the comments!
