From the WWE Rumor Mill: John Cena's feud post-Roman Reigns revealed

What’s the story?

John Cena is reportedly set to move on from his feud with Roman Reigns after No Mercy and step away from the squared circle for a brief period of time.

As per Dirtysheets.net, Cena, who presently performs for the WWE’s RAW brand, is set to rejoin SmackDown Live once he returns from his break, following which he will feud with WWE Champion Jinder Mahal.

Apparently, the Leader of the Cenation plans to go on a hiatus from in-ring competition, owing to his budding acting career in Hollywood.

In case you didn’t know…

John Cena has been a WWE mainstay throughout the Ruthless Aggression Era and the PG era till date.

The 40-year-old WWE Superstar has, as of late, started focusing more on his acting career outside the WWE, filming multiple Hollywood projects, due to which he’s had limited on-screen time on WWE programming.

The heart of the matter

Several professional wrestling pundits, as well as fans, have criticized the WWE’s decision to hastily intense Cena into a feud with Roman Reigns on RAW, which will see the duo face each other at the red brand’s No Mercy PPV next month.

If one is to believe the rumblings in the pro-wrestling community, WWE planned to have Cena and Reigns engage in a long-running feud but have been forced to shorten the Cena-Reigns storyline due to John’s plans of taking a break from the ring to put in work for his acting career.

Nevertheless, Cena will, in fact, return to the WWE after a short break and start a feud with Jinder Mahal over the WWE Championship on SmackDown Live.

John Cena faces Roman Reigns at the RAW brand’s No Mercy pay-per-view at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on September 24th.

John Cena has paid his dues in the professional wrestling business and has every right in the world to pursue projects outside the WWE bubble.

Regardless, in my opinion, the WWE should’ve refrained from rushing a big match between Cena and Reigns, without any significant build-up and instead chosen to have the two powerhouses do battle with one another at Wrestlemania 34 next year.
