What’s the Story?

Allegations of sexual assault lead to Enzo Amore being released by the WWE. But the company had plans on Monday Night Raw's 25th Anniversary that involved the former Cruiserweight Champion.

Amore was expected to wrestle Goldust in the third hour of the show according to a report published by PWInsider.

In Case You Didn’t Know...

News broke on Monday regarding Amore being investigated for a sexual assault that occurred back in October 2017. The victim took to social media to share her story and did a follow-up interview with TMZ revealing further details of her assault.

The Heart of the Matter

The original plan was for Amore vs Goldust to take place in the third hour of Raw which would have lead to the return of The Dudley Boyz who would aid Cedric Alexander and Goldust after the Zo Train interfered.

Following Amore's suspension, WWE rewrote the segment and had The Dudley Boyz interrupt the match of Heath Slater and Rhyno vs Titus O’Neil and Apollo Crews. The segment ended when Slater was thrown into the ring and put through a table with a 3-D from The Dudley Boyz.

Amore was terminated on January 23, 2018, which ended his seven-year career with WWE as a two-time Cruiserweight Champion.

The investigation was launched by the Phoenix Police Department in Arizona and is on-going.

What’s Next?

Amore was expected to defend his Cruiserweight Championship against Alexander at the Royal Rumble this Sunday. But his termination resulted in the title being vacated.

Daniel Bryan is slated to kick off tonight’s episode of 205 Live to address the issues regarding the title as well as the potential of a 205 Live General Manager.

Author’s Take

Amore being suspended and later fired was considered an extreme measure with the investigation still underway. But there won’t be any clarity to this situation until the investigation is complete.
