What's the story?

WWE's Paige recently suffered an injury at a Live Event. PWInsider reported that Paige would not be returning to the ring and that her in-ring wrestling career was over.

Wrestling Inc has now reported that a "WWE Insider" talked to them about how Paige was reacting to the idea of not wrestling anymore.

In case you didn't know...

Paige made her return to WWE in recent months, after a long time away from the company. She had violated the WWE wellness policy, resulting in her being suspended by the company. During this time she was also recovering from injuries to her neck. Paige had also been suffering from scoliosis in her early teens but continued to wrestle despite her condition.

Paige suffered an injury during a Live Even match, where she got hurt when Sasha Banks hit Paige with a stiff dropkick to the back that caused the latter’s neck to violently bob while falling to the mat.

Paige's injury was expected to keep her out for only a few weeks. Recent reports by PWInsider and Dave Meltzer has revealed that this is no longer the case. Dave Meltzer said that Paige had been 'medically disqualified' from wrestling and would not be making a return to the ring as a competitor.

The heart of the matter

A 'WWE Insider' is supposed to have revealed that Paige was not dealing with the news of her injury well. According to the insider, Paige has been hiding from the fact that she has been seriously injured and may never again return to in-ring action.

"It's really sad, she's still only 25, and she should be at the peak of her career—instead, it's looking ever more likely that Paige is going to be forced to announce her retirement."

She has not yet given up hope that it is the end of her in-ring career. She has refused to believe that her career is at an end, and is hoping for a miracle that will allow her to wrestle again. Despite the remote chance of her returning, she has not accepted her retirement.

"She doesn't really believe it and is actually hoping for a miracle to someday wrestle again. She knows it is far fetched but her emotions are all over the place right now and she hasn't accepted retirement just yet."

Unfortunately, she may have no choice but to accept her fate. Paige has only tweeted a single black and white photo of herself since the news broke.

What's next?

Paige's entire life has been about wrestling, with her whole family is involved with the industry in some way. Paige was expected to be one of the biggest future WWE stars, but it looks like her career has come to a sudden and heartbreaking end.

Author's take

Paige's wrestling career coming to an end so early during her WWE term is one of the most heartbreaking things in WWE at the moment. Wrestling is a sport with real dangers associated with it, and there has never been a better example of the tragedy that can strike at any moment.
