What's the story?

Mike Johnson of PWInsider is reporting that contradictory to earlier reports, Paul Heyman will be making the trip to Saudi Arabia on Friday for the Greatest Royal Rumble. He will accompany the WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar in his title defence against Roman Reigns inside a steel cage.

In case you didn't know...

Brock Lesnar is fast approaching the modern (past 25 years) record for a world championship reign within the WWE that is currently held by CM Punk at 434 days. As of April 25, 2018, Lesnar has held the WWE Universal Championship for 388 days.

The heart of the matter

Roughly a day ago, Johnson reported on PWInsider that Heyman would not accompany Lesnar to the Greatest Royal Rumble as he was not booked to appear. He also didn't travel with the WWE when they left for Saudi Arabia; which could have been the reason to believe he wasn't going to appear.

The WWE Raw crew basically headed to Saudi Arabia straight from Saint Louis; which was the location of Monday Night Raw this week. Johnson indicates that Heyman plans to travel with Lesnar later in the week.

In addition to the steel cage match, there will be six other championships on the line including the WWE Championship where AJ Styles will face Shinsuke Nakamura in another WrestleMania rematch.

Also on the card will be The Undertaker taking on Rusev in a Casket Match, Triple H v. John Cena and the 50-man Royal Rumble Match.

What's next?

The Greatest Royal Rumble will take place on April 27, 2018, from the King Abdullah International Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

Author's take

It definitely wouldn't be the same to have a Brock Lesnar match without Paul Heyman at ringside. As for the match itself, you have to think that Reigns will finally overcome the Beast Incarnate and captures the WWE Universal Championship.

The steel cage could be to the advantage of Reigns who can win by escaping after he incapacitates Lesnar. If Lesnar retains, I really don't know who will take the title from him at this point.
