What's the story?

According to a report from Wrestling Inc (via Cageside Seats), the recent Twitter feud between Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega was probably meant to set up an angle for the Ring of Honor tournament on Y2J's upcoming cruise.

In case you didn't know...

In response to a fan who claimed that Omega was the best in the world, Jericho said that the IWGP United States Champion wasn't even the best wrestler in Winnipeg.

Kenny Omega then responded by expressing his disappointment at Jericho's comments.

Needless to say, this didn't please the Fozzy frontman who proceeded to invoke the spirit of Daenerys Targaryen and bloviate about some of his accomplishments in professional wrestling.

Before all was said and done, Jericho admonished a fan who called him the second greatest wrestler from Winnipeg.

The heart of the matter

Chris Jericho's cruise will feature a Ring of Honor tournament with Jim Ross at its host. Other professional wrestling personalities such as Mick Foley, Ricky 'The Dragon' Steamboat, Raven, Jerry Lawler and Rey Mysterio are listed as special guests in the event.

Even though Jericho has said that he probably won't wrestle in the tournament, a miniature Twitter feud with Omega can certainly help in drumming up the interest.

What's next?

This cruise will sail from Miami to Nassau in the Bahamas, and it will take place from October 27 - 31, 2018.

Author's take

Anyone who thinks that Kenny Omega is a greater wrestler than Chris Jericho either needs to be drug tested or simply doesn't have a working knowledge of professional wrestling. He might not have the box office appeal of The Rock or Stone Cold Steve Austin, but the Man of 1,004 holds has put together a body of work that will stand the test of time.
