In case you didn’t know…

On last week’s episode of Smackdown Live, Jinder Mahal’s 170-day reign as the WWE Champion finally came to an end when he was defeated by “The Phenomenal One” AJ Styles in Manchester, UK.

Mahal, who won the belt at this year’s Backlash PPV by defeating Randy Orton, went on to hold the WWE’s top title for a total of six months throughout which he defeated top superstars such as Shinsuke Nakamura and “The Viper” Randy Orton on many occasions as well.

Mahal was originally the one who challenged “The Beast” Brock Lesnar to a champion vs. champion match at Survivor Series, but “The Modern Day Maharaja” lost the strap to the Phenomenal One last week, which led to the major change in the Survivor Series card.

The heart of the matter

Meltzer recently speculated that at Survivor Series; Jinder Mahal could possibly end up interfering in the match between WWE Champion AJ Styles and Universal Champion Brock Lesnar.

According to Meltzer, this would be a smart move by the WWE because it allows the current WWE Champion to stay relevant despite suffering a loss at the hands of the Universal Champion. However, the veteran journo believes this loss will not harm Styles’ status as World Champion due to it being via outside interference.

It was also reported that the WWE wants to keep booking Brock Lesnar as strong as possible, due to his rumoured Wrestlemania 34 match against Roman Reigns next year with the Universal Championship on the line.

What’s next?

Despite all the speculations, it is safe to say that both Styles and Lesnar will provide the WWE fans with a classic match.

Styles, as we know, is a tremendous performer and is one of the most athletic superstars in the company today. Brock Lesnar, on the other hand, is also one of the fastest and agile wrestlers to step into the WWE.

We can surely expect a tremendous match between the two men, when they step into the ring with each other at Survivor Series in Houston, on the 19th of November.

Author’s take

The WWE creative team now has the chance of booking this match in perfect “David vs Goliath” fashion, something which they have previously done when Lesnar went toe-to-toe with CM Punk at Summerslam 2013.
