What’s the story?

As the 25th Anniversary of Monday Night Raw approaches, there’s been an update regarding where some of the bigger stars expected to be.

CageSide Seats reports that Brock Lesnar and John Cena are expected to appear at the Barclay’s Center while Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Kevin Nash, Jerry Lawler, Jim Ross and other WWE alumni and legends will appear at the Manhattan Center.

In case you didn’t know...

The 25th Anniversary of Raw will emanate from the Manhattan Center and the Barclays Center on January 22nd, 2018 and will feature both wrestlers from Raw and SmackDown Live.

The show will also feature appearances from legends including Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Kevin Nash, Jerry Lawler, Jim Ross and others.

The heart of the matter

The history of WWE and the Manhattan Center dates back to the beginning of Monday Night RAW when they would alternate between taped and live shows from 1993 until 1997.

Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker wrestled on the first episode of Raw on January 11, 1993, and many of the legends advertised for the Manhattan Center have worked in the Manhattan Center.

On the other hand, the Barclays Center has been synonymous with the current era of wrestling and has held several WWE events including Raw, SmackDown, NXT Takeover: Brooklyn, and SummerSlam.

The first time the WWE ran an event at the Barclay Center was in 2012 for the TLC pay-per-view which featured The Shield's first match and a ladder match between John Cena and Dolph Ziggler.

What’s next?

The 25th Anniversary of Monday Night RAW will air live from both the Manhattan and Barclays Center on January 22.

The anniversary show will be the final RAW episode before the Royal Rumble and will likely be a mix of finishing the buildup for various matches and paying homage to the history of RAW being on television.

Author’s take

The 25th Anniversary of RAW is looking like one of the biggest Raw episodes since Raw 1000.

We haven’t seen WWE broadcast from two locations since the Attitude Era and how they decide to do it this time around, in addition to all the legends and current roster superstars could make for a great show.
